1. Didyouknowgaming is a website that posts facts and truths about games. That one is more like a rumour.
2. Already posted in the site

Oh....OK, I'll have that in mind... Thanks for the heads up!

i've only seen fans call them "dogs" in the first place. it's always been beasts iirc

Did you know gaming isn't for the official. I've rarely heard them be called cats, most call them dogs or beasts, as you said. So it would be did you know.

can this be a didyouknow?:o even if it is just a rumour?:o

Not confirmed, common knowledge, and many other reasons would prevent this from being a did you know.

Same as above, and Gengar/Clefairy one has already been used.

Well, there's the truck that is near the S.S Anne if you surf/walk on the water (it's not possible without a cheat because you don't get the HM until later on in the game). It's the only vehicle in the series besides the moving truck from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.
Rhydon was the first pokemon programmed into the game.
The high pitched screech in the original Green recording of the Lavender Town song.

Those are some Smile

Truck one is possible, Rhydon also, but the pitch wouldn't due to there existing almost no unedited version of Lavender Town theme with it.

Hoothoot's japanese name is Hooh.

Arcanine is the only Pokemon classified as legendary despite not being close to being one.

Azurill has the ability to change gender when it evolves into a Marill.

Nintendo was almost sued by Uri Geller for using similar name on for Kadabra's original name.

One banned episode of the anime had Ash catching several Tauros, which to those who didn't see it, "magically" appeared.

Heonn's badges are the only ones whose names are identical in Japan and the United States.

The towns in Unova are named after clouds.

sorry for double post.

Johto's legendary trio (Entei, Raikou and Suicune) has the same initials of the next Gen game (Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire)

Kanto is colors, Johto is plants (trees, flowers, bushes)

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - NervousTyler - 06-28-2012 02:48 AM

All of the professors in Pokemon games are named after trees.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - tjn100 - 06-28-2012 05:07 AM

These I got from one of the original translators of Pokemon.

Gyrados's original English name was going to be SkullKraken, but due to the available length for names, it wasn't usable.

Text boxes had a set character limit. For the games in the Gameboy series, the first line could contain 18 characters, but every following line could only be 17. The GBA series doubled that.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet. There was a plan for a skateboard vehicle as opposed to a bicycle in Pokemon Gold and Silver (Gold uses a skateboard and cue stick cause he's good at billiards and games and stuff in the manga.)

I had read somewhere that you were going to somehow use cellphones at the time to access your Poke Gear too.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - 7Soul - 06-28-2012 08:47 AM

39 pokemon were removed from the first game. They can still be accessed through glitches, but they have glitchy sprites and movesets. Some of them were brought back to the second gen pokedex

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - DarkNerd - 06-28-2012 05:17 PM

There are multiple varieties of MissingNo. However, MissingNo. gets it's name from the fact that Pokemon were pulled out of a chart/table of Pokemon numbered by their index number. MissingNo. is what loads when you pull a number that isn't on the chart/table, hence MissingNo., or Missing Number.
^Quite a bit of research. Nah, just asked Nintendo.

Will edit examples of revamped backsprites.

I think we all should make it a moral rule to find source for the "facts" in this thread since there are so many pokemon rumors out there that isn't true.

Just saying.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - DarkNerd - 06-28-2012 06:15 PM

Bulbapedia. That is all.

Oh, and Nintendo Customer Service.

Well, If I recall correctly Bulbapedia links sources as well so grab those. If there's not a source, don't trust it. Because can't anyone just go and change an article?

Already mentioned in the Pokemon DYKG video.

Actually this fact is true. If I recall I remember hearing this in my Pokemon Red game and reading up about it in one of my older walk-through books.
