Steam Greenlight - black_seabass - 07-10-2012 10:51 AM

As some of you might already know, a web page for Steam Greenlight is up. Basically Steam Greenlight allows the community to vote on which game will appear on the steam store. Do you like this idea? I do. Click on the link for more information.

I'm not a huge user of Steam, so I didn't know this.

Is it normally the more popular games that people vote to go on sale, or are there obscure games that get voted as well?

Finally Indie games will no longer have to cower in the shadow of the Steam approval process.

I won't know how I feel about it until I:
- See it in action to see if the queue quickly stagnates with trash and/or trolling
- Have one of my own titles in the pipeline and see how it fares

So does this mean we can get System Shock 1 and 2 on there now?

Not really. I think we only sit and approve indie games that developers have made themselves.

some people have remade system shock to work on newer versions of windows i think, heard it in a podcast the other day. so i wouldn't say it's beyond the realm of possibility.

This is still an awesome idea and one I look forward to seeing in action because when you get games like Revelations 2012 on Steam against other Indie games out there you gotta question how that happens.

The game probably had an amazing promoter or spinster pitching it to Steam. Honestly, I wish I caught it when it was on sale a while ago because all this hate makes me want to see it for myself.

Honestly I love how it reminds of when FPSs were good. That Painkiller/Quake style of FPS.

But....does this mean then that I won't be getting System Shock because of this is being greenlit?

@Alex
Link me to the download?

I am afraid that System Shock is not an Indie series. You can try to convince GoG.com to get those games re-released but that community has been trying for awhile.
