I honestly cannot get into Portal. I played it when it came out and by no means will I attempt to refute its status as a highly innovative and groundbreaking game. I think it's an AMAZING experience and one of those milestone titles in gaming history. I just hate what Portal's fans have done to it.

I cannot enjoy the game because of how played out and exhausted its memes and iconography has become. The Glados voice, the companion cube, the blue/orange ovals, the Aperture Science logo, that goddamned "Still Alive" song, and holy hell... the thing with the cake. I hear it and it just annoys me to no end. Catchphrase humor is the absolute worst kind there is, and usually there comes a time when a catchphrase gets so overused (e.g. "Get R Done") that people just drop it by means of social scolding. That doesn't happen with video game culture so these things (and Skyrim's "arrow to the knee" bit, among others) just keep going and going and going.

Anyways, it's sullied a once good game to me.
How could you...

God forbid I have opinions against the status quo, right?

I was being sarcastic to what I assumed was an equally sarcastic post.

With the previous interactions between you two, you can't really blame him for being kind of a dick and neither can I blame you for being a dick back.

RE: The pure, unmitigated hatred thread - CFMM - 07-07-2012 12:49 PM

Most of the dick interaction (no homo) between myself and other users have come up from misunderstandings. This was just outright disagreement with how I felt about something. I'm aware most people like Valve games; I happen to feel otherwise. I can't just say "yeah I hate Valve games" and assume people will know how I feel, so I elaborated on why I feel the way I do hopefully so people would go "What's up CFMM's ass? Oh, he isn't fond of the fanbases for the games."

Yeah I get ya I've never been a big fan of certain fan bases for games, Combat Arms for one example. Smile

No, it's my bad. I thought he was serious when he said that. Apologies.

IIIIIII agree with you.

Although honestly, I also just don't really find the games that enjoyable. Half-life is okay. Portal is a game where I can admit that there's a lot of merit, even though I don't really enjoy it. I've never been much of a PC gamer though.

I hate Team Fortress 2, however. Hate. I don't understand what anyone finds so amusing about the characters and their 'wacky' accents.

Well, time for me to seems like the most cynical and hateful person on the forum.

Yeah. I hate a load of things.

Hahaha. The funny thing here is I agree with you on basically all of that because all of it has very valid points.

Good on you. I felt thoroughly disenfranchised when I was explaining/defending my stance on the matter. Smile

Joffrey.

That boy is nothing more than a smug, little cunt who deserves a slap upside the head.

He angers me <_<

Personally, I have had a good experience with Girl Gamers, having met one who is currently admin on a CS : S server I play on. She's chill and gets loads of shit but she still keeps her cool often. As long as the Girl Gamers don't do what you said and "keep it to themselves" in the sense that they just play along, I love 'em.

Oh and by the way, I hate the person who started the Brony Fanbase. My brother is 18 and is like MLP BACKROUNDZ FORUMZ FER MLP! and it's quite annoying.
