Super Mario World uses the same song for the levels but mixes the song in a diffrent way for each kind of level.

I think that I can understand the overworld theme and water level theme, but the other two I just can't really see any similarities at all.

This is just my opinion...so no one nash on me too harshly Tongue

I can hear it a bit.
Let us compare everything to the Overworld theme, shall we?
In overworld, we have a melodic and happy line overplaying the harmony undertones!

Listening to the Ghost House, it seems as if they removed that happy tone and replaced it with the harmony. I also think the rhythm is inverted is slowed down and inverted.

The castle theme, even if you don't at first realize it...is very similar to overworld. The song has the same pattern to it..the reason it sounds so different is because it is played in a minor key instead of major!

And finally, I think it is clear to see the similarities between overworld and the water theme. I would also suggest finding a slower version of the songs? That might help you hear similar sounds in the music. So basically..yeah they rearrange the same tune in different ways...but I think a lot of games have a tendency to do this..especially older ones.

This is just my opinion though.
