This sounds pretty awesome! If we do the whole genre jumping thing I claim the platforming level Big Grin

If so I will love you forever.

Someone lost in an alternate dimension/reality wherein reside the different video games when they're not being played ?
Humans aren't allowed in, so everything becomes hostile and the protagonist must escape back to his/her dimension/reality
That way, we can tie in all the different genres, art styles, music, etc.

Ok, I got the story ^_^

It starts off with a guy in front of his computer (he looks young and cute). He just finished a really cool drawing with an art program, and he intends to close the folder after saving his stuff.

But, as he is about to close his computer, a hacker (dressed as a burglar with black/white stripes and a black hat) comes out of a web browser (Internet Explorer or Google Chrome) and takes the drawing folder. He then goes back to the web browser and disappears.

The kid, who is freaking out a little, builds a big machine very fast and connects it to the computer. He then goes IN his computer (kind of like Timmy Turner did in a show called "Fairly Odd Parents") and follows the burglar. As he chases down the evil man (again, like in the show), the burglar goes into a webpage and the kid follows him.

He ended up in a webpage about nature. But he has no time looking around, he must catch the burglar...

NOW, this is where it gets cool. Depending on which webpage he goes to, it can be a different of game. For instance, the "Jungle" webpage can be a platform-kind of thing. If he goes to an other webpage, like Space for example, it can be one of those Space Shooters kind of game.

Plus, different artists can make different webpages ^_^. What do you think so far?

If that burglar used internet explorer I think he'd actually get away with his stuff lol!

also it reminds me of Comix Zone, which was like my favorite game on the genesis, more than sonic 2 or golden axe mannnn. Big Grin

Can I test it?

RE: Collaberate on a game? - DHXIII - 07-04-2012 02:47 AM

Since it's a community project - I imagine this will be tested by anyone who is a member.

A RPG platformer FPS puzzle game!

With action/adventure and arcade elements!

Actually...

Someone mentioned earlier about having different graphic styles for each level/area. Why not have different game mechanics for each as well.

It would be like a character jumping from game world to game world, where each has it's own style and flavor.

With different music styles and everything so that everyone gets their say in at least one zone.
This needs to happen Idea

Well my vote is obviously in. Can anybody come up with a gripping, awesome story involving all the above?

I'd give all my money to whoever did that well.

That would be exactly $2.94

All artists should contribute - Just as long as we keep it a similar style it should be fine!

On the other hand, having different art styles for different levels would be quite interesting

What if it's like members from the site travelling through different game universes?

EDIT: I feel really dumb now, because I posted this BEFORE I read everything that was said about the project.

But at least now we know that you're up for the same train of though as the rest of us Exclamation
Let's get the ball rolling and work out the bigger aspects of the project rather than straight away deciding who will do what for what level etc.
We need
1. Story
2. Platform to develop the game
3. People on-board, listing their competences (relevant to what the game-making platform can cater for)
4. Various game genres that would happen during the levels

Can I be the main character?

I think there should be a choice of different characters. Each character would have different hobbies and interests, which would translate to different bonuses when they are in certain genres.

Even though I did say something about having all of us be characters, I think the only fair way to do it is to have a made up character so that someone doesn't feel left out.
