Quick question... is baby Werewolf porn considered child pornogrophy or animal pornography?

RE: Guilty pleasures - Earthboundy - 11-09-2012 05:29 AM

I don't give a shit what people think about me, but here are some things that could be considered odd

Duke Nukem Forever (I REALLY enjoyed this game)
My Little Pony Friendship is Magic
Animal Crossing

I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed Duke Nukem Forever also.

You, my good man, understand what a game is supposed to be, what makes a game fun and why not to take games seriously.

I secretly enjoy playing Marvel vs Capcom 3 even though I hate the games mechanics, x-factor and easy noob level of play (that can get you to EVO). but I love making combos.

The problem everyone had with DNF was that is played crappy. And that's why everyone hates it. Yeah, the gameplay isn't the greatest in DNF, but it's a pure Duke Nukem game. Duke is freaking hilarious. Like when he was offered to take some power armor and he said "Power armor is for p***ies." And that armor was clearly Master Chiefs. I love Halo and I found that freaking hilarious. I enjoyed that game a lot simply for its comedy value. Everyone else should too. But sadly they won't.

Speaking of comedy games. Anyone play Matt Hazard: The Return of Matt Hazard? If not. My goodness. You should. That game is freaking HILARIOUS.

It was. It really was. And it's sad that everyone who played it ignored that because the gameplay/graphics/story were all mediocre. The game was funny and it was as funny as previous Duke Nukem games. That's the thing people didn't realize with that game. That, or they refuse to acknowledge it.

You can compare games and see I played it. Honestly I don't know much about Matt Hazard but that game had my laughing at times. Pretty enjoyable and well worth playing something fun. Did have slightly annoying controls and combat but meh. Oh and the JRPG boss is EASILY one of the most memorable bosses ever in a video game. So well done, with hilarious humour that (as someone who plays JRPGs) I can easily see and understand. So good.

I also like how Matt breaks the 4th wall sometimes.

That game was just funny. Loved every minute of it. Did you play the XLBA game? If so, how is it compared to the first one?

Like most FPSes gameplay hasn't aged well, but the humor saves it.

Hm, no. See, that wasn't really funny becasue for one, Duke says something like that about a game that plays better than his own. The first rule when making something is never reference an obvious better movie/music/game/book/thing. It doesn't make it funny, it just makes it seem the writers were being immature. Also, allow me to point out the power armor bullshit. Duke still has power armor. In this game, they call it "EGO" but it functions just like power armor does in other games. If they wanted to truly mock power armor, they should have made the game with health pickups and non-regenerating health.

Also, while I took out the quote, I'm going to elaborate on your own wording of "Played just like a Duke game." It didn't, for a few reasons. The health regen, for one. For two, Duke can only carry two guns at any time in this game, whereas in his other games, he could carry everything. Three, the "humor" wasn't actually funny this time around and felt like the writers were really stretching to make any joke they could, which is pretty sad.

RE: Guilty pleasures - A Zombie Riot - 11-12-2012 09:42 AM

The two-gun limit was fixed in the PC version.

Still, most people had very high expectations for the game, and that's why it fell short for them (and I'm assuming, you). I had no expectations (or, very low expectations) on the game. And therefore, was able to enjoy it way more than a lot of other people.

I found the game funny. Just like previous Duke Nukem games. Just because you didn't doesn't mean my opinion is wrong.

RE: Guilty pleasures - Ouberry_13 - 11-12-2012 09:45 AM

Anyway, my own guilty pleasures would be either the God of War series or the Assassin's Creed series.

For GoW, despite the fact I despise the stories, the gameplay is decent enough for me to play. But, you have no idea how much I hate the story. The story is like baby-punching levels of hatred for me. However, the gameplay is decent. Not great, not bad, just decent.

As for Ass Creed, I don't like the gameplay that much, and the story is also batshit insane (not the good kind), but for whatever reason, I play the games.

Actually, I stopped caring about DNF long ago, so I had no expectations at all when I played.

Also, I never said your opinion was wrong. I simply stated how it really didn't play like a true Duke game. It felt off and almost stunted, as if the developers stopped halfway and then released it full retail anyway.
