Ghostbusters The Video Game: Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis - Pogue-Mahone - 02-06-2013 07:45 AM

The characters of Dana Barrett and Louis Tully were going to be in 2009's Ghostbusters the Video Game, but the Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis were unable to reprise their roles for various reasons...

Sigourney Weaver was asked to reprise her role as Dana Barrett, but turned it down because none of the original cast were confirmed to be in the game at the time. When the original cast was confirmed to be in the game, she quickly changed her mind, but the role of Dana Barrett had been removed from the script and replaced with Alyssa Milano's character Ilyssa Selwyn. The game was too far into production to go back and make changes, so her character was omitted completely besides mentioning her name in the cutscenes a few times.

Rick Moranis was approached to reprise his role as Louis Tully, but turned the role down because he retired from acting in 1997 to spend more time with his family after his wife passed away. Louis Tully's desk is still in the firehouse, but there is a note saying "Feeling sick, going home early." You can also see his Ghostbuster Uniform from the second movie complete with black ear muffs and his own name tag.
