All Things JoJo - Ouberry_13 - 02-04-2013 11:46 AM

I know we have an anime/manga thread, but since this one is focusing on one specific series, I think/hope it means it can stay as its own thread.

Now then, this thread is for any fan of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The manga, games, the old OVA, or the new anime, all are open for talk. Also, for those who do not know what JoJo is, here is something for you: the anime openings for Parts 1 and 2 of the new series.

Is the new series a retelling of the OVA or a continuation? I'm kinda interested in checking Jojo out, but all I have to go off of is a preview chapter that was featured in Shonen Jump years ago.

The new series follows the original manga pretty closely, from what I can remember of the manga. It's going through all the parts, or that's the goal at least. The old OVA only covered Part 3, and did a poor job, at best. The anime is currently a bit more than halfway through Part 2. I seriously recommend watching, but that's only because I love JoJo. If you enjoy shows with lots of action and creative fight scenes, you'll probably enjoy it.

If you prefer reading over watching, I would advise you to just watch the anime versions of Parts 1 and 2, then begin the manga at Part 3. I say this only because Parts 1 and 2 are a bit weak, at least in my opinion. Once Part 3 kicks off, some of the really interesting and creative fights start to show up. The manga series of JoJo itself is currently 8 Parts long, with a total of 107 volumes, and still going. The new anime is, as I said, in Part 2, and only on the 17th episode total.

If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer.

I suck at the games but I loved the anime. I still need to watch the movie, Phantom Blood.

Awesome seeing my favorite character, Hol Horse, in the new game. Kinda makes me interested.

EDIT: I just realized that this thread was about a new anime I had no idea about. When I saw the first post I just assumed the videos were about the new game. Definite watch.

Actually, as I stated previously, this thread is for everything, not just the new series. That being said, good luck even finding the Phantom Blood movie. Last I heard, Araki asked that it was never put into DVD or VHS, because he felt it was the worst rendition of his work. Hell, the movie was the reason he said he would never let his work become an anime ever again. Then this new series came out.

Onto the game trailers, they look amazing. The art style is very reminiscent of Araki's personal style, which is to be expected, I guess. However, despite Namco-Bandai registering the All Star Battle name in North America and Europe, I still doubt it will leave Japan. I hope we do get an international release, but I'm not betting on it.

Oh yes, I know this thread is for all that, I just mentioned the videos because I didn't even know there was a new anime Tongue Now I do and I'm gonna watch it sooner or later.

Huh... Turns out you are absolutely right on the Phantom Blood movie. There doesn't appear to be a streaming site that has it and even finding a torrent that is not the OST, manga or trailer is hard to find. I did find something and I'm downloading it now, hopefully it's not a virus.

Hopefully, you enjoy the series. It's doing a good job, especially with the voice work.

And good luck with that new virus. Treat it right, and maybe it won't destroy everything.

I fear this might end up like in the first Digimon movie(s)...

*Pointless weaboo moment* The actual first movie was the 10 minute short at the beginning of the horrid localized version. Maybe you should watch the original, un-subbed, raw movies. That way, you'll get the full emotional experience.

If you couldn't tell, I was making a joke at people who actually act and talk like that.

I take anything weeaboo as a joke so no worries Tongue In any case, that's why I added the (s) in it, to avoid people who actually would've done that.
