Look at Billy's belt. It's Aiai's head from Super Monkey Ball! Both games were developed by Sega's Amusement Vision studio. (Look in picture below)

Still, hiding a bloody arcade game for so long in a console game, makes me wonder what Nintendo was planning...

F-Zero GX features quite a number of Sonic the Hedgehog references and it was developed by SEGA. Sonic, the Chao and Eggman's glasses can be seen in different parts of the game.
