Unfortunately, Capcom realized they had a deal with Sony that all of the numbered sequels would be exclusive to the Sony Playstation, so Capcom essentially just switched the subtitle with '3' and they were all set. The face model for the original Max Payne was the game's lead writer Sam Lake, due to the lack of a large budget. In Max Payne 2, with funds to afford a professional actor, they hired actor Timothy Gibbs as the face model. After Rockstar Games bought the rights to Max Payne from Remedy in 2003, Rockstar decided to let Max's long-time voice actor James McCaffrey provide the face model and motion capture for Max Payne 3. All three face models make an appearance as special multiplayer and arcade mode characters in Max Payne 3. A different face model for each game.
