Those games are not well known to the general public in America and Europe because there was only one translated into English, but most big gamers know of the series, is what seems to be the case.

Earthbound is fantastic!

How about underrated games that everybody ignores, like ToeJam and Earl Panic on Funkotron on the Genesis? Classic!

This is kind of cliche...but Psychonauts and Costume Quest their just filled to the brim with creativity and fun.

I've noticed a lot of these are not unknown to the gamer community, but just unknown to the general public and under appreciated, but hey I don't care they're all good games that need more publicity.

Glover was one of my N64 favorites.

I just remembered a game I have called Chulip, by the company Natsume, that doesn't like violence but has some weird stuff in their games.

Basically your character wants to kiss the girl of his affections but his heart isn't strong enough to do so. In order to fix that, you have to kiss a whole bunch of other people. One way is using the bath house and impressing the lion who runs it by bathing properly. Another way is to spice up a police man's bland life by doing three crimes, two of which I can remember: Streaking and under age smoking.

They also made a game called Princess Debut for the DS that looked cutesy but has some content that's a bit twisted to have in characters that are in a little girls' game.

One of the princes you can get with has a serious sister complex. Like, if you say your favorite flower is the same as his sister's at the start you can partner up with him and it only gets creeper. He won't stop comparing you to her and even tries to get you to dress up like her. If you decide to marry him at the end who's that right in the photo with you? His sister! Ick!

There's another prince that won't stop flirting with other girls, and even still does this if you marry him, but your character insists that he only loves her. Erm... Riiiiight...

Umm...those games sound really weird.

They are, but Chulip is actually pretty fun due to how quirky it is. It's just the ways you get someone to kiss you are so obscure the game actually comes with a guide in the back to tell you how to do everything. I like how whenever you go to sleep to replenish your health your father makes all these weird comments about you xD

I went a little off topic with Princess Debut, but since it's by the same company I had to share. I thought I was getting a music/rhythm game but instead it's a dating sim with a tiny bit of circle tracing for the dancing. Not what I expected at all.

You know, I'm going to say Skies of Arcadia as well.

I may talk about it a lot, but damn, none of you have played it from what I've seen (apart from Bumblebee, he always likes my posts whenever I mention it)

While lacking something to do for some time, I decided to go over some gba games that I haven't played. And remembered the awesome series: Summon Night.

They have 2 games for the gba (Swordcraft Story I/II) which focus on a weapon crafting gameplay. Along with the main story (which isn't half bad) you'll be gathering materials and learning new techniques over a decent amount of weapon styles.
They also have 2 games for the DS (iirc, haven't played any in years) that are rather different in gameplay but are still fantastic. I'll probably re-run then after I finish the gba ones.

However, I'm not sure of its popularity since it has games outside nintendo consoles (iirc on both ps2 and 3). But it still doesn't get the hype it deserves.

Sword Quest series(Atari 2600)
A puzzle game series that's really difficult. Each game is based off of one of the four classic elements earth, fire, water, and air (which was never made). The game is then laid out after various things earth = the zodiac, fire = tree of life, and water = the chakra points. Its amazing they could develop something like this for an Atari. To top it off is the REAL treasure that was tied to the game.

Guardian Legends (NES)
Take a top down flight game like Gun-Nac, world exploration like Metroid, puzzle solving like Zelda, and upgrades galore and you have Guardian Legends. You are a female transformer/cyborg trying to destroy a planet before it crashes into earth.

Star Tropics (NES)
This really neat treasure (now available on the Wii-shop channel) is another adventure game. You are a teenage boy going to see your uncle on a tropic island. You find out he's missing and you go explore the islands to find him. Armed with a Yo-yo you have to solve puzzles, avoid traps, and fight monsters in order to rescue you're uncle.

@Darkfenian
After hearing Continue talking about Star Tropics in their gaming podcast, I was interested in buying it. Probably will end up checking it out.

I recently started playing Breath of Fire 2 on GBA (well, Wii GBA emulator). Known as a hidden gem for the GBA and well worth playing. Big Grin
