Secret of Mana: Karon - GorgonBull35 - 09-28-2012 02:39 PM The ferryman named Karon is an interesting character from Secret of Mana. Charon helps you cross the Sea of Wonders into the Moon palace. [attachment=162] But because his sprite is the same as a Robin Foot, the game recognizes him as an enemy. [attachment=163] You can't kill him with weapons but magic can kill him. [attachment=164] [attachment=165] Obviously the Robin Foot enemy sprite that Karon has is based off of Robin Hood. Karon, however, is based off of Charon the ferryman from Greek mythology. [attachment=166] Charon would let the dead cross the river Acheron to the underworld of Hades, a place of gloom and doom, if they paid him a silver coin. Karon, though, let's LIVING people cross a desert in a SANDSHIP for FREE. But they lead to the Moon Palace which has the troubled town music playing ("A Phantom and a Rose" is the song). Karon also is aptly named after Pluto's moon, Charon. Which goes hand and hand when he crosses space to get to the MOON palace.[attachment=167] RE: Secret of Mana: Karon - SERIOUSLY THOUGH - 09-28-2012 08:24 PM (09-28-2012 02:39 PM)GorgonBull35 Wrote: ...to the underworld of Hades, a place of gloom and doom...
