I am officially separating myself from the rest of the Halo fanboys. - A Zombie Riot - 09-12-2012 06:13 AM

I love the series, don't get me wrong. Well, I loved everything up until Reach (I hate Reach...). And I'm going to most likely rent the next trilogy.

They're fun games and I don't mind playing them (besides Reach... that game.... yuck). The only thing I want from 343i is for them to do a Halo 2 anniversary edition using the halo 2 engine and having the online be back on. I would love to play that game again and again. I loved Halo 2 to death.

But no, I'm separating myself from the rest of the Halo fanboys because I cannot partake in what they do anymore. The Halo boards on GameFAQ's are just filled with them and they're annoying. I can't have a civil discussion without it turning into a flame war. It's the way they act when you tell them how much a game sucks that just annoys me. It's the way they handle it. It's pathetic.

And I felt bad for the person I was playing Reach with last night. I was yelling a lot because of how bad the hit detection is (it's atrocious). She was like "You really don't like this game, do you?" The last time I played it before yesterday was back in March. And that was like 4 games. And before that was November of last year, which was like 6 games. It's just not as fun as Halo 3 is, sadly. At least when I was playing Halo 3 with another person, me and her were having a blast and I wasn't getting so frustrated at it.

Reach is Bungies poorest developed game, ever. It's a half-ass attempt at a game and they should honestly feel bad for even making it.

I've never played any Halo games (no xbox for me), but is the Reach hit detection really that bad? Sounds terrible.

RE: I am officially separating myself from the rest of the Halo fanboys. - A Zombie Riot - 09-12-2012 06:58 AM

I was playing SWAT yesterday (It's a gametype where basically one headshot, you're dead) and there were MULTIPLE times where I was shooting someone in the head and all they were doing was just bobbing their head. It's like the game isn't count the head as a head.

Now, Mind you, in Halo 3, it rarely ever had this problem. Of course, Halo 3 had the BR (3-burst gun) and Halo: Reach has the DMR (Semi-Automatic... aka, you fire one shot at a time).

And there's even times when playing team snipers (everyone has a sniper) you can snipe someone in the head and they won't die.

It also doesn't help that some of the maps in Reach favor a certain team (mainly the red). Where the ground and such is mainly redish orange, and the red team blends in well. Where the Blue team stands out like a sore thumb.

Now, also mind you, that these problems kind existed with Halo 3 was well, But where not this severe. It annoys me to even play Reach.

I like your way of putting a point across - you actually structure an argument rather than go "Reachz_wuz soBAD lolZ0rzzZz".

I've only ever played (and re-player so many times) Halo 1 so can't judge Reach, but from what I've heard, you're not the only one who has issues with it.

I really need to buy Halo 2 & 3 and whatever came afterwards (Wars/Reach/OSDT/etc.)

Ha, I haven't associated myself with the Halo fans for a while (however those are the fans that are similar to CoD fans).

The fans I associate with are the ones that don't spam Gamefaqs and youtube about retarded little things that make every game bad, and the retards you see on the Bungie forums, I prefer the people who have played the campaign on Legendary and Bro-op with their friends on Team Slayer and no MLG.

Hell, I am incredibly good at this game, last time I played I topped BTB with 53 kills, Reach may have terrible hit detection, but I always thought it was lag on my end.

Anyhow, I though all Halo's were pretty good, I always ranked them story wise anyhow, multiplayer was pretty much the same, but the thing about Reach was I was excited for it, all the new weapons, armor abilities, maps looked amazing, and I really wanted it.

Halo 4 looks like Metroid, I never really liked the 3D Metroid's much due to their retarded difficulty curve with their bosses, and I think my mind makes me think Halo will be the same, nothing I've seen so far has made me want to play it, apart from it being Halo.

Still, I may be going off topic, Halo 3 was better than Reach by far, but I give Reach some points for having some decent maps if you knew how to play them.

IIRC, the timeline for the Halo series is:

Halo: Reach
Halo Wars
Halo: Combat Evolved
Halo 2
Halo 3: ODST
Halo 3
Halo 4
Halo 5
Halo 6

And I'll read retrolinks post a little later.

I played the first 2 Halo games because all I wanted was the original Xvox (Fable called my attention when I was 15) and I did watch my ex roomates play Halo 3 CONSTANTLY and it just never clicked for me. Never saw Reach gameplay so I am afraid I can't agree or disagree.

You know, you're right. It says something about a person who has actually beat the games on legendary. I've beat 3, ODST and Reach on Legendary (before I was too scared to even attempt it, lol).

And I'll rent Halo 4 (and most likely 5 and 6). I'm just done with the series (meaning I don't think I'll buy another Halo game again). If they release a Halo 2 anniversary edition, then that will be my last Halo game I buy.

Reach gameplay isn't too far off from Halo 3. They added in armor abilities and basically got rid of the map based abilities (which all of them, besides overshield... which is just a shield bubble, were turned into abilities). I liked the map based ones more, because it seemed like you actually had to fight for them. And if someone came from behind and assassinated you, you were honestly shocked.

In Halo: Reach, if someone is using invisibility, it shows. It's not real hidden. If you suddenly see 30 red dots on the radar, you know someones using it and you're most likely going to find them before they find you.

It's like they attempted to make the game more fast-based... like Call of Duty or something. But the thing is, Halo doesn't work that way. And this game is shining proof of that. And it seems 343i is taking it even further with Halo 4.

Nice, I've completed Halo 1, 3, ODST, Wars and Reach on Legendary, it's 90% running than fighting really, but it is hard as hell sometimes, The one thing I want from Halo 4 is a decent story with decent maps, I always loved the Campaign due to the maps and all I've seen right now are First Person cutscene's in a forest that doesn't look interesting at all, even the MLG group said it didn't feel like Halo when they played it for the first time.

Still, I hope 343 see their errors in the game and change it for the better.

Actually, Halo Wars comes first, since Reach is set just before Halo (like 3 days) and Halo Wars is set 20 years before Halo 1.

RE: I am officially separating myself from the rest of the Halo fanboys. - A Zombie Riot - 09-13-2012 03:26 AM

I just did it from memory. I thought Halo: Wars was first, but wasn't too sure. haha

RE: I am officially separating myself from the rest of the Halo fanboys. - BumblebeeCody - 09-13-2012 04:06 AM

I never thought the Halo series is bad. They (along with CoD) are two great games that are well made and are some of the best of their genre.

Saying you you want to separate yourself from the Halofantards is good but also kinda pointless. This can be said for any community really. I try to stay away from any "loyalist/fantard" of anything due to how pathetic argument cases are. I was showing to other people on YouTube what a crap companion Fi is in Zelda: SS, but so many don't want to talk bad about it. Zelda: SS is on the weakest games in the series. My point though, is that you SHOULD be a "hardcore" fan of Zelda/Mario/Halo/CoD if you have a strong passion for those titles; as long as you don't over cloud your judgement and opinions into "this game is the best ever and anything said bad about it is just plain wrong", which is what's wrong with any gaming community today.

Halo and Cod are two different things.

It's like comparing Battlefield to Crysis.

It's not about comparing the games but how you react to games/anything as fan.
