Online Matchmaking thread - Moriatti - 09-03-2012 03:06 PM

Hi! I'm always looking for people to play against, and I would be interested in playing a few matches online.

I use Pokémon Online for emulating the cart (easier then Nintendo Wi-Fi and I don't have to spend hours EV training)

I use Google Docs and Skype to play the card game.

Anyone interested in playing?

I never heard of this "Pokemon Online" and I'm unfamiliar with it.
I'd gladly accept a Pokemon Black challenge, though.

I was never into competitive battles. It might be because I've now missed so much game mechanics that if I ever think about starting to battle online, I'd probably just give up on the team selection.

Pokémon Online is here: http://pokemon-online.eu/

Most of the Mechanics are pretty simple, and I'd be perfectly willing to clear up anything you don't understand.

I thought this was gonna be a dating thread for Pokémon fans. Safe to say I'm relieved Big Grin

I'd probably wouldn't win anything anyway because I just play for fun and don't faff around with EV (still no idea what EV/IV is), viruses, etc.

That's why I like Pokemon Online, you just type them in.

I'll explain more later though, got stuff to do.

The thing is, going into online battles without past experience is just impossible for me.
I can understand IVs/EVs just fine, but with the current 600+ (have we reached that number yet?) pokemons and moves, I simply have NO idea where to start building a team and/or strategies as I'm also assuming it's far different from the old link-cable times where we'd just spam attack moves until the opposite team was down.

If I'd sticked to pokemon throughout the generations, I might just have had the experience needed to go for it. But from my state, I'd take months to learn how to play properly; and I don't have those months =/

Plus now there is 3 on 3 battles. When we had doubles I had strategies like (This is from years ago so I'm not 100% sure what it was) but "Send out Manaphy with (I forgot my other Pokemon name) who would power up in Rain".

Or "use (I forgot this Pokemon too) with fast EVs to use Taunt and force the Pokemon to attack that while Shuckle increases it's defense". I have nothing with a 3rd Pokemon because I never played Black or White. What is this Pokemon online though? I'm tempted to try it. Or do you emulate?

RE: Online Matchmaking thread - Moriatti - 09-04-2012 11:44 AM

Pokémon online is a battle emulator where you select your Pokémon and their EVs/IVs/moves.

Symphony, what I did was I made a list of about 8 Pokémon I liked, then looked them up on Somgon.com and tried to piece together a coherent team (Generally you want a lead, physical attacker, special attacker, physical wall and special wall)

I'm not a super-tournament player, but I have a lot of fun that way, and don't lose but so often. (Haven't played for a while though)

Theme tournaments are also a fun way to start, and if enough of you guys are interested, I'd be willing to come up with one and helping everyone start/arrange.

Alsooooo I'm going to start a contact list for anyone who's interested in the OP.

On the interwebs this morning, brilliant sum-up of why I can't be bothered

Why did the author draw a penis on the gameboy in the second image?
