I remember when I was about 3, I was in this day care center with a bunch of other kids. One of them had a Gameboy like me, so we started to be friends. Then, one day, he came in with this weird thing called Pokemon Yellow. After letting me try it out for an hour or so, I was hooked. I knew I had to get this game for myself. Come my next birthday, voila, brand-spanking new Pokemon Yellow right in my hands. And then Gen 2 came out....little me could barely contain his excitement when he got Silver version.
As a side note, I never figured out how to play the card game (even now, the mechanics of the card game elude me), and I never liked the anime. Mainly because, even as a kid, I knew the story of the anime was pretty damn bad.

I was just ending 6th grade when I read an article in Nintendo Power about Pokemon and how it worked. It sounded amazingly fun, but it didn't seem like it would be out any time soon. Months later, I started 7th grade and the game was released. I ended up reading enough about it and then looking through Pokemon Power (and insert in Nintendo Power that acted as a primer and strategy guide for the game). Ended up getting a copy of Red while buying pants a week later. Been a fan ever since.

The show, mostly, followed by the card game and then finally Pokémon Silver. Before getting my own game I had watched my friend play through Red and later on down the line I went and bought Blue.

Got Pokemon Yellow in Kindergarten. Still remember having to train up a mankey to lvl. 14 just to beat Brock.
