Soulcalibur Series - Meguca_is_Suffering - 08-30-2012 10:57 AM

Bayonetta was at one point considered as a possible guest fighter for Soulcalibur V. However, due to the difficulty it would take to get her hair and magic attacks to work, she wasn't playable.

Also, when the first game in the series, Soul Edge, was released in arcades, the character Mitsurugi was replaced in the Korean version due to the controversial image of samurai. He was replaced with 'new' character Hwang who was essentially a pallete swap of Mitsurugi.
Hwang was later added as a playable character for all regions in the second edition of the arcade game.

Looks like the Koreans thought "this is the hwang character for our market" amirite ?

Anyone ?

Less I'm very confused, Mitsi was replaced with Arthur, not Hwang.

Dante was also considered as a guest char for SC 3, IIRC. You can also build Kos-Mos in that game.

Otherwise, pretty sound.

Mitsurugi was replaced with Arthur in certain versions of Soulcalibur, not Soul Edge.
Arthur later showed up in SCIII as a bonus character too, and is considered canon as well, though he never became as popular as Hwang.

As for the Dante thing, I've see that rumor mentioned a lot, but there seems to be little to no evidence of it being true...
