Scenery - SERIOUSLY THOUGH - 08-20-2012 09:55 PM

So my summer here is drawing to a close, so I thought I’d share with you all some scenery from my home region.

The photos are pretty huge so give it some time to load

1 – Taken a good few kms North of where I’m from. To the right, you can see the Mont Blanc range
[Image: xFrvz.jpg]

2 – The first range of mountains before the valley I live in (also the very first range of our section of the Alps)

3 – Taken from a mountain on the East side of the valley
[Image: acggJ.jpg]

4 – Taken from the Westernmost point of my region’s mountains. Here I’m being clever and standing on a rock surrounded by a sheer cliff Cool
[Image: ISISL.jpg]

5 – A panorama of my little mountain village. The highest mountain at the back is where I took the panorama (Photo 9)

6 – View of the monastery from the top of the mountain I mentioned in photo 5
[Image: bjec9.jpg]

7 – Same monastery with a choucas (called Jackdaw in English) being badass
[Image: 2gmGO.jpg]

8 – 2010 Photo taken from a Southern mountain. The pointy mountain on the left is the one from which I took photo 9. The lower, middle mountain, is from where I took photo 3
[Image: DeCte.jpg]

9 – 360-degree panorama taken from the top of the mountain you can see in photo 5. The metal thing is the bottom of a cross that we traditionally have at the top of each of our region's peaks
[Image: MhQVj.jpg]

10 – From the top of the mountain, you can see the Mont Blanc range in the far distance
[Image: hI4mK.jpg]

11 – The monastery seen from a field on the opposite mountain. The mountain where I took photo 9 is the tallest one on the right
[Image: 3sW4E.jpg]

12 – 360-degree panorama taken from the top of a Southern mountain
[Image: KGKbF.jpg]

13 – Same as photo 9, but I’ve shown where some of the other pictures were taken Smile

14 – Here’s me, going under a local waterfall. It was freezing.

BONUS – Went to see the Tour de France go by. This made it even more worth while Big Grin

Now share some scenery from your part of the world Cool

These are all shots I took with some friends on a nature hike last July.

While not technically scenery, fireworks are too pretty to pass up.

Awesome Smile
If that was a video game, the trunk would me your only way out

I have a shot or two at the top of the waterfall but these seem better and more detailed because all there is around there were trees.

Dude, these are beautiful.

I do admit that waterfalls and even streams and fountains always make me feel happy, not too sure why.
I remember having a dream when I was a kid where I was walking with my mom in a local mall and ass we passed a show outlet they usually had shoes on display windows, well one display window had a stream running down it and maybe that is what sparked my love for them.

I also had other photos but when I updated my iPhone in like September, the update fucked me over and deleted ALL things I had taken for about a month so I lost a month of contacts, texts, photos, etc and that just made me sad.

Dreams do tend to have that effect of increasing an emotion towards what you dreamed about

I don't understand why, whenever I see a waterfall, I just think "damn, I'm going under that right now."
The result is always the same, freezing head-pounding and wet clothes Smile

RE: Scenery - Xannidel - 08-22-2012 07:45 AM

I don't have the want to walk UNDER the waterfall per se but I do have the urge to just be mesmerized by it. Also it happens in video games, WoW for example had the Zul Amen area when BC came out that had those waterfalls outside the dungeon that I liked to be around. Also there are some areas in like Sleeping Dogs that I enjoy as well because they have waterfalls so my interest in them is not just in real life.

@SERIOUSLY THOUGH
FUGGIN' INCREDIBLE. You have greats for photos. Shame the camera quality is a slight letdown. But damn...good job.

Guilty, I've got my four year-old digital camera Big Grin
Gonna get me a nice proper SLR this year. Panoramas take time to make and if youi aim at the sky, the contrast is different to when you point at the ground - Something I can't control on my current camera
