Favorite game & reasoning behind it

Personally, I'd have to say Oblivion. The gameplay, storytelling ability, characters, music, everything was perfect. Tons of replayability; enough to last me well into the present day (it came out in 2005, though you probably knew that) and I can definitely see myself playing it in the future.

Assassin's Creed 2

The only game that's ever enthralled me enough to bother getting platinum!

I'd have to go with Dragon Age: Origins. For some reason it's about the only game I keep coming back to and playing all the way through.

Moved to gaming.

My favorite game might sound kinda lame, being a PS1 and all but it's the best for me. I'm a jRPG fanatic and the best game I've ever played is Suikoden II. The gameplay was simple yet engrossing, the story is an amazing plot about war, betrayal and friendship.

The Legend of Dragoons. It would be nice to see a remake with nowaday graphics. Though the story line wasn't anything special, I did love the battle style, even if it took ages to defeat a boss, but well worth it in the end.

Tetris.

(edit - do I really need to give a reason? It's pretty obvious)

Whenever my friends play tetris, I coach them in the worst ghetto way possible.
"Ya, you got dat line piece. Now slide it in there reeeaaaall good. Oh yeah, you got dat piece. YOU GOT DAT PIECE!
I certainly improved their scores.

Final Fantasy III/VI.

I am guessing I may be showing my age, but my favorite game was the classic Mega Man series.

Mega Man 2 the most, I remember being like 7 or 8 and playing forever trying to beat that game. I also remember MM3 and 4 as I got older and more into the series, I actually dint beat part 2 till after I beat 3 and 4.

Also Final Fantasy II on SNES (like 6 in japan)

I honestly have to say though I went and Played Chrono Trigger on the SNES for the first time like 2 years ago, and I see why that game gets a lot of praise, it is amazing I suggest you all play it at least once.

Close Tongue

II (US) = IV (JP)
III (US) = VI (JP)

Either way, II and III on the SNES are amazing games.

Good call, I couldn't remember, I just remember that FF2(us) seemed like it was never ending, I mean you went everywhere possible, and yet they kept finding new places to make you go. I like 3(us) more because it was a more cohesive story but part 2(us) had my favorite characters as well as being creative. Both were great. Kain(2) Sabin(3) Rydia(2) Terran(3) and Edge(2) Shadow(3), all my favorites, although what sucked is you couldn't really edit your party in 2(us) like on 3(us)

RE: Your favorite game of all time - Doom_master1122 - 06-27-2012 04:39 AM

My favorite game huh? Well, My all time favorite game is Doom, I mean, look at my avatar, and user name. I played Doom for the very first time back on the PS1, which was 2-3 years after the initial PC release. I then played the PC version soon after. I found the PS1 version far superior. The game merged Doom 1 and 2 into a single game, and I don't just mean just the game's levels. They took Doom 2 monsters and items, and threw them into Doom 1. The PS1 version also featured new Ambient music in replace of the rock from the PC version. Along side this they had new sounds for everything. The PS1 version also had new levels made just for it. I own multiple copies of Doom on all platforms possible just as collection purposes and because it's my favorite game.
Doom was a fast paced shooter with some nice ambient music(Ps1) making the game a bit creepier. Nothing else to say about it, its a fast paced shooter, its fun and simple. I love it.
Doom 3 also belongs here, despite what some people say. Doom 3 achieved what it was suppose to be originally, a horror game. While yes jump scares got stale, the atmosphere was good.

Along side Doom I have a few other game series that are runners up.
MegaMan Legends! This series I consider the "True" MegaMan games. I liked the Action Adventure feeling to it. It had a superb plot, and just great gameplay. What MegaMan Legends did right, MegaMan Legends 2 did better. MML2 got even better with its plot and gameplay.

Ys. Never heard of it? Story of my life.
I love Ys from the original Master system release, to the "recent" Ys 7. The plot in each of the games are just amazing each one of them are different, with no direct relation (some exceptions), so someone can join in at anytime and not be lost. The game play is what is weird for some people, the earlier games had the "bump system". You just had to bump into the enemies to attack. It pretty simple, but it had a ton of strategy to them, especially the bosses. The later games dropped it and got an action style of gameplay, pushing buttons to attack, and magic, and so forth. However whats popular about the Ys series is the music. It is one of my favorite game soundtracks ever. Especially Ys Book 1 and 2 on the Turbo CD.

Then finally one of my favorite jRPG series, Shin Megami Tensei Persona 1-4.
Great games, the plots are brilliant, I've never played a jRPG with well thought out plots like these. I add Persona 1 to this list simply because its part of the series, but to be honest, it didn't age well. I can NOT play it anymore, the gameplay just frustrates me, especially with its broken XP system. Persona 2 fixed all that and was 100x better. The gameplay in 1 and 2 were pretty decent, more so with the second game as it fixed issues with 1's system. Persona 3 and 4 on the other hand, had much faster gameplay, and had some strategy to it. I loved it.

Well for those that at tl;dr
My top games are, Doom 1-3, MegaMan Legends 1 and 2, Ys 1-7, and Persona 1-4
Why? Because they are awesome.
