Olympics - Beardy - 08-06-2012 10:19 AM

I s'pose it's easier to have a thread for this, rather than me and Seriously posting in the free thread now and then.

As I said before, I was heartbroken at GB not winning the mixed doubles. But holy balls, the Olympic tennis rules are MENTAL aren't they? Best of three, only not best of three. One set each equals a tie-breaker. Rather than... y'know... a third set. Weird, weird rules.

I don't really follow the Olypmics. It never really interested me.

I'm gonna be in London on Tuesday. Anyone else who'll be nearby feel free to meet up. Limb pics are fucking great.

I like how some people really couldn't care about USA teams until the Olympics. Then their like, ''GO USAAAAA!''

To be fair, this is the first time I've ever given a shit about the Olympics.

Have Sweden won any gold yet? I saw some people talk about it in a Stream but they never said which sport.

Sweden's got 1 gold and 3 silvers so far.

And I'm annoyed, I spent the first few days mocking all my British friends that they had no gold medals and were in 21st place. Then they suddenly wake up and steal what seems like ALL the medals and now I remain silent....

Big Grin

In the sailing, here's a breakdown of your medals so far

DECEPTION OF THE YEAR IN THE 2012 OLYMPICS:BRAZIL.All of the best athletes like
Cielo, has worst results. All the chances of winning more medals are in team sports like
soccer, volleyball and basketball or even handball. Our unique chances in a individual sport
are in boxing, but I think we will not win.

Watching the athletics.
This lady just chucked a shotputt 20 meters and isn't happy about it Sad

RE: Olympics - DHXIII - 08-07-2012 08:12 AM

I don't give two shits about the Olympics, I've never been a sports guy though.

Whenever my friends were out kicking a ball I'd be sitting drawing, The only sports related things I do is climbing and jogging...

Brazil has 8 medals, 2 golds. And everything is going well until now in masculine soccer (3x0 against South Korea in the ongoing game) and might get more medals in some other sports, accourding to a friend of mine who knows more about the Olympics than me.

I don't think this performance is shameful or anything like that. It's actually normal to lose. Winning is for who stands out from the others. But Brazilians are terrible losers.

The Olympics is generally about displaying ignorance. Root the person who was born the same country as you then brag about it when the achieve a medal/high position. Only time I've tried to watch the Olympics is when something interesting happens. Like Korea and China purposefully failing...and this. I watched a bit of Womens Judo (Pretty meh) and Canoeing(No idea what's going on).

But I can't complain much if it's rooting for sports and being "healthy".

The Olympics for me was Evo 2012

RE: Olympics - Beardy - 08-08-2012 10:23 AM

I got into the Olympics in the same way you get into any arbitrary event. Heavy TV coverage. After shouting at it at the pub, I then shouted on lottery numbers. It's fun taking sides!
