GOOD LUCK ! Spoiler (Click to View) RE: The Free Thread - Hexadecimal - 11-25-2012 08:44 AM Wall of text go! Our Dietary Director is a fucking idiot. Since the kitchen has a reputation as being a hell hole we have a hard time hiring new employees. This time we only got one applicant, who happened to be an older volunteer there. Since I'm sure the Director has seen him around, plus there was the interview, she should have been able to tell this man was not right for the job, especially since he has trouble hearing, is super clumsy, and looks like he can barely walk. Quick note before I go any further: I honestly know that this was not entirely this man's fault, but I am only human, so of course I'm going to be frustrated. If I come across sounded too harsh on him, please just understand I was as polite as could be to him and showed zero sign of just how upset I was. Also, the fact that I'm in the middle of my 18 days straight working did not help. Anyway, beginning yesterday I saw the stupid Director bitch had wrote me in to train him starting that day without even asking me. That happened to be the day I was working a 13 hour shift (six of it with him). It was officially his first day of training, but he had been around seeing what we do and trying to learn it a bit. However, he seemed to have retained none of it so I was showing him every step of the way what to do. The first thing that pissed me off: He acted like he already knew everything and kept interrupting me with either "Uh-huh", "OK", or "Sure" like he knew everything. When I asked him to repeat what I just showed him he couldn't do it. I even practically shouted at him to make sure he heard me loud and clear because his hearing is honestly that bad. He has bad habits. I had to tell him repeatedly not to touch the silverware on the parts patients eat off of. He kept touching his face so I had to tell him to wash his hands constantly and had to keep watching him because he wouldn't stop doing it. I told him he had to use gloves with anything that was going into someone's mouth and he couldn't remember that. Also, he'd wipe his face with his gloves and I had to tell him to change them. At one point he got Ranch Dressing on his thumb, licked it off, and I had to to tell him to go wash his hands again. This all repeated today. He remembered nothing of what I showed him yesterday, despite the fact I went over the job description while we did everything since that's what helped me to remember what to do. Then, right at the end of the shift, he fell. Into my leg. He was fine but I was in so much pain and beyond frustrated that I just burst into tears. I went to the ER with this massive red mark on my leg. I'll be OK but he really nailed the bone right under my knee, which is why it still hurts and it will for the next few days according to the doctor. I have it elevated with ice on it right now. Thankfully, since I threatened not to come in tomorrow if Roger did, he's been called and told to stay home. Where is Director bitch during all this? She took some vacation and holiday time and won't pick up the phone. This is her fault that this has happened. I do feel bad for Roger, but I cannot work with someone who is that hazardous. It's not fair to me either. RE: The Free Thread - SERIOUSLY THOUGH - 11-25-2012 09:10 AM (11-25-2012 08:44 AM)Hexadecimal Wrote: Given your situation, your actions are totally called for. If this guy can't do a job that's so close to the patients' wellbeing, he has no place on the team. Also, your boss sounds like a right pillock. Just because there's only one applicant doesn't mean that you have to fill the position. I left him all alone on Thursday while I was out celebrating Thanksgiving. It was really windy that day, and our walls suck (I can hear the wind blowing when it's really windy) and it makes a creepy sound when the wind blows. Simon was just so freaking scared because of that. He was scared again for most of Friday as well since it was windy almost the entire day. Then he was happy again. I don't think he was mad at me. I think he was just way more scared than anything. He's happy now and has been sleeping all day. He even kept me up at night because he was playing. It was annoying, because I was trying to sleep and he wanted to play. It was also funny because of last night, he jumped on my bed at least 10 times throughout the night. Apparently, he wanted to lay down, but my pillow was blocking his spot (and you would think he would just lay on the pillow... but nope). I ended up moving the pillow shortly after. Then, I got really annoyed (I was very VERY tired at this point) and I picked him up and set him on the floor. I even said "Stay there!" And as soon as I set him on the floor, he was instantly back on the bed and on my little blanket laying down. I was like "How on earth did you get up here so fast?" He fell asleep and then I fell asleep. If there's one thing I've learned with cats, it's that you kinda have to stop giving a fuck, 'cause they don't care at all, it basically turns into a "you don't care, I don't care" situation. RE: The Free Thread - A Zombie Riot - 11-25-2012 10:39 AM I know. I used to have cats before. But it's been a REALLY long time since I've actually had to take care of one. It's been like 10, maybe 12 years since I last took care of a cat. It's fun. RE: The Free Thread - cingchris - 11-25-2012 12:13 PM I see, yeah used to have 3 cats in this house, now I don't have a single pet anymore, they can be a lot of fun. RE: The Free Thread - Moustachey - 11-27-2012 11:22 AM Haw, just remembered about this forum. MISSED YOU GUYS.
