In fact most things that were associated with or are Nintendo. I was a Sega Girl growing up. Any kind of Sports games. I just don't get it. Heavy Rain. God dammit I'm never buying a hyped up bastard of a game like that EVER AGAIN. It wasn't even a game really. Just a CGI movie with some QTE's. RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - retrolinkx - 11-01-2012 07:48 AM ^ You know I hated the Asscreed games, up until 3. And I played them all. I still don't like the series, but I think it's decent. RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - A Zombie Riot - 11-01-2012 08:20 AM Oh, I know. Call of Duty. I mainly played them all for the story and who plays those games for the story? RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - Ouberry_13 - 11-01-2012 08:37 AM Well...I gotta say the FF13 "series," which it can now be called a series, since there will be a third game for Lightning's 'story.' I just hated the gameplay, and the story was just bland and predictable. Oh, and the Kingdom Hearts series. Gameplay is decent, but the story is batshit insane, and not in the good way. Multiplayer isn't really my thing on those games but I admit, I was pretty gripped by the story. CoD4's story was pretty damn awesome at times. MW2 had a great premise with surprising twists. I've yet to play Black Ops 1 and MW3 but apparently Black Ops 1 is well written. Even with reading (most) of all he story point entries, it just didn't make any sense. But it didn't stop my playing 100+ hours on it because I felt the gameplay was the strongest point. I loved playing it. FFXIII-2 however didn't really have any relation to the first game. It felt more like "Lets take well known characters, not really talk much about their past/previous game and put them in a different situation". Good story in the end with better characters. RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - Hexadecimal - 11-02-2012 01:20 AM Anytime someone makes a list of the greatest music games it seems like freaking Elite Beat Agents is always #1 and people gush all over it. I hate, hate, HATE it! Just because Ouendan was considered to be too Japanese they totally butchered it. Can't let them American experience some different culture! It will confuse them! I actually had no idea that men cheered in Japan, and I needed to use a nifty FAQ someone made to understand some of the levels, but I didn't mind at all! It was interesting! The sequel actually even toned that done so most scenarios were universal. I guess that was sort of another problem I had with EBA; it was soooo American. Babysitting, baseball, spoiled rich girls, and so on. They even butchered my Ouendan hotties! Kai looked like freaking Jessie Ventura! What also got me was that I found Ouendan to be so adorable how they helped people by cheering them on whereas the Agents just dance around like freaking idiots. ...OK, I'm done. It's like that's the only thing they can do anymore. And it's been a while since I played Black Ops' story. So I don't remember how well-written it was. Black Ops remains as my favorite Call of Duty game all around. The multiplayer was the best in the franchise. RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - Arjahn - 11-02-2012 06:00 AM Oh lawdy I can't believe this thread fell under my radar for so long, here we go. 1. Mass Effect. The entire trilogy is just a muddled mixture of awkward ducking behind cover with some admittedly cool RPG elements mixed in. Which brings me to my main gripe: WHY ISN'T IT JUST A RPG? Come on, a Fallout-combat style space epic would've been sweet, and the dialog and choices are great, plus the ability to carry over characters between games and have their previous choices impact the story, this could've been a God of a trilogy, if the combat wasn't so fucking awkward. 2. Diablo 3, although I am aware that a lot of other people hate this one too. AMAZING COMBAT, DEEP LOOT SYSTEM, PVP ARENA, ADDICTING GAMEPLAY Point. Click. Carpal Tunnel. That's it. All you do, point, click. It's like Monkey island 2 without the humor or entertainment. They removed all of the weapon stats from D2 that were... you know... fun and gave you 3 skills that matter. Oh, what's that? You want to customize your stats like every RPG has let you since the late 80's? Nah, just put half into Vitality and half into Intellegence and you'll probably be fine. PvP? Oh yeah, forgot about that, just give it a year or so and I'm sure it'll be fine. What? People can pay real money to get uber gear instead of playing the game for it? Oh... well It'll still be ok... right? Addicting Gameplay? Point and click. That's it.... A note about Diablo 2, I loved that game, the atmoshpere was still light and immersive enough that it worked really well, and the upgrades to the loot were tangible, meaning that if you got a badass sword, it actuall yfelt pretty badass. D3 just made you wait until you leveled up so you could go to the auction house to buy crap with barely noticeable stat boosts from whatever you bought the previous level. This is like the Ninendo Wii compared to the SNES, yeah the Wii is a bit prettier (not by much), but the SNES was just so much more fun at the time and still today, in my opinion. *cough* Oh, and a fun fact, I have found 3 videogames on the street in my life, two of them have been COD games. I found a PC disc of Black Ops and the Wii version of MW3.... RE: Games you hate, but everyone loves - actionisforlosers - 11-02-2012 09:38 AM The Assassin's Creed games... |
