I honestly cannot get into Portal. I played it when it came out and by no means will I attempt to refute its status as a highly innovative and groundbreaking game. I think it's an AMAZING experience and one of those milestone titles in gaming history. I just hate what Portal's fans have done to it.
I cannot enjoy the game because of how played out and exhausted its memes and iconography has become. The Glados voice, the companion cube, the blue/orange ovals, the Aperture Science logo, that goddamned "Still Alive" song, and holy hell... the thing with the cake. I hear it and it just annoys me to no end. Catchphrase humor is the absolute worst kind there is, and usually there comes a time when a catchphrase gets so overused (e.g. "Get R Done") that people just drop it by means of social scolding. That doesn't happen with video game culture so these things (and Skyrim's "arrow to the knee" bit, among others) just keep going and going and going.
Anyways, it's sullied a once good game to me.
How could you...
God forbid I have opinions against the status quo, right?

With the previous interactions between you two, you can't really blame him for being kind of a dick and neither can I blame you for being a dick back.

Most of the dick interaction (no homo) between myself and other users have come up from misunderstandings. This was just outright disagreement with how I felt about something. I'm aware most people like Valve games; I happen to feel otherwise. I can't just say "yeah I hate Valve games" and assume people will know how I feel, so I elaborated on why I feel the way I do hopefully so people would go "What's up CFMM's ass? Oh, he isn't fond of the fanbases for the games."

Yeah I get ya I've never been a big fan of certain fan bases for games, Combat Arms for one example.

Although honestly, I also just don't really find the games that enjoyable. Half-life is okay. Portal is a game where I can admit that there's a lot of merit, even though I don't really enjoy it. I've never been much of a PC gamer though.
I hate Team Fortress 2, however. Hate. I don't understand what anyone finds so amusing about the characters and their 'wacky' accents.
RE: The pure, unmitigated hatred thread - retrolinkx - 07-08-2012 12:00 PM
Well, time for me to seems like the most cynical and hateful person on the forum.
Girl Gamers.
Firstly, I don't mind if they were a gamer who, like us, played video games growing up, and played different more unique games that weren't mainstream, or at least played video games with a passion and not because they want to be different. Those are the ones that annoy me, the ones that shout "HEY BOYS, YES YOU HEARD MY VOICE IM A GIRL, DON'T HIT ON ME SILLY BOYS, I'M JUST PLAYING THIS VIDEO GAME HERE, YES I PLAY VIDEO GAMES, IT'S NOT LIKE GIRLS DON'T STOP LIVING IN THE 20TH CENTURY LOL, AND BEFORE YOU SAY GO BACK TO THE KITCHEN YOU SHOULD KNOW I COULD KICK YOUR ASS IN THIS GAME AND REAL LIFE SO DON'T EVEN TRY ANYTHING LOL."
I mean I understand that you're a girl gamer and all, but I don't care, gamers are gamers, albeit casuals can make that word different, regardless of gender, I don't need to know that your presence here is something different or new, if you're a girl gamer, kudos. I'm a guy gamer, do you see me saying all this shit like it's important?
Conservatives.
Ah yes, those bastards, I love how they lied, said they were going to get rid of immigration, and blames everything their past government did on Labour to get the votes to get it, also love the fact that the people who are being affected are the people who voted for them. It's sad to see a lot of things in this country go to shit because of them, and I hope that people will understand that Conservative are not the right choice in power, they caused the riots, made a lot of people poorer and out of jobs, have helped the rich get richer, and of course messed up education everywhere, I'm lucky I got out of my GCSE's before they could mess with them, even though they got me at the EMA money, and university fee's. Oh, and they're going to try and privatize the NHS you know.
People who think it's cool to spout memes and internet paraphernalia all the time.
No, I don't care you browsed reddit for 10 minutes, and found incredible rage comics that you "me gusta'd" and I don't care you "le" laughed at it. It's not funny to spout this shit all the time, in small doses maybe it's fine, but seriously, if you're going to post shit, talk about it, wear shirts, tell me about it and think it's cool, you need to change.
I browse 4chan, and I don't spout constanza, or sad frog all the time, I don't post feels, hell the only thing I've done on this forum is use implying, and that's alright if I need to tell a story or such.
All because you believe you're different doesn't mean anything, you're not unique, you're like everyone else on this planet, unless you're some rich guy, who cured cancer and lives on Mars, I'm not thinking you're any different than the rest of us.
People who believe having usernames like [420}XxXxQu1cK5C0P3zzzzzMxLxGxxXxXXxNoooo0Sc0oo0pe1080pHDXxXxXxXxXXxXx is cool.
I made my name Retrolinkx, when I was 11, and this was because Retrolink was taken, the x was the show it off differently, I didn't put shit like 20 X's in my name, and shit like Destructive and any other adjective you could get out of a thesaurus
Okay, I'll admit, when I was 12, I made my username in Metroid Prime Hunters be my actual name in Japanese letter, I thought it looked cool, but I still kept it simple.
Many people I used to know when they were young would have 2 names and some numbers next to it to distinguish themselves, such as DemonSlayer22 or Yellowbird13. These are decent names, they're simple, and don't sound bad.
Now, we have kids calling themselves SuP33R_-_Sc00p3Zz and K4PT1N_SN1P3ZZ and shit. These names abide by this rule, but add it's own kiddie shit that isn't nice to look at, or explainable. In this day and age where people know these names aren't cool, why do people still make their usernames like this?
Steam is also a questionable one, where you can change your name to be whatever you want it to be, why have this one, the one you made on a console to seem different?
Hipsters.
I only hate hipsters because they think that they're special, and also that hipster as a meaning has been changed to mean these people, when the basis of a hipster is technically you or me I'm typing this out to, people who don't like the mainstream because it's mainstream, not because we hate it because other people hate it, we have reasons and facts to back it up.
Being a hipster is an ironic word in itself, since it is a mainstream cult following, and it's not cool to be part of it.
I don't mind the people who dress like it, since it doesn't show anything about them, they may like the fashion, but anything else is just...eugh.
People who complain about everything
What the fuck is wrong with these people seriously, stop complaining about everything. God you always complain about unimportant shit that only you seem to hate and no one else.
These guys think it's somehow cool to complain about everything to make people like them, it's not going to work. Complaining about things isn't going to make people like you, hell I'd hate you if you did.
Why don't you, Oh, I don't know. Try to change this? What you can't? Then stop caring about it, if you can't change it ignore it. Okay sure if it affects you and you can't change it then tough shit, you're obviously doing well to have access to a computer, and be able to type this much without dying like most people do in other poorer countries you selfish cunt.
God, people like you make me sick.
Yeah. I hate a load of things.

As long as the Girl Gamers don't do what you said and "keep it to themselves" in the sense that they just play along, I love 'em.
Oh and by the way, I hate the person who started the Brony Fanbase. My brother is 18 and is like MLP BACKROUNDZ FORUMZ FER MLP! and it's quite annoying.
