RE: Books - Dazz - 06-27-2012 07:47 AM Recently started to read High Fidelity from Nick Hornby. So far it's turning out to be a really great read! I'm not surprised of course, since he's a great writer and it's a great film, but this book is really turning out to be much better than the film! I'll pop it on my Kindle. Also, I've read some Nick Hornby, but only a couple, High Fidelity being one of them. What are his other books like, are they up to that standard? RE: Books - Dazz - 06-27-2012 07:54 AM About a Boy was "not bad", but really not that great if you're not so into your proper novels. It's quite similar in a sense to how High Fidelity is adapted to film, as this is to its film of the same title too. He reuses a lot of themes and character types throughout his various books, but he hasn't written much. It's a bit of a shame. RE: Books - Beardy - 06-27-2012 07:58 AM Then there's only one thing to do. We track down Nick Hornby and force him to write some more. RE: Books - Tonus - 06-27-2012 08:10 AM read "The Beach" again recently, brilliant. don't know how they got the movie so wrong. RE: Books - Melirune - 06-27-2012 02:59 PM Anything by Terry Brooks, Piers Anthony, Terry Pratchet and Brian Jacques. Also, H.P. Lovecraft and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. RE: Books - Irratonalys - 06-28-2012 07:39 AM Terry Pratchet is really incredibly awesome. also Dan Abnetts Gaunts Ghosts novels. just keep getting better with each new book , i dont know how he does it. |
