Already ahead of you. I gave up on my dream a long time ago.

Most depressing post I've written on this forum. Smile

You know that bothers me because I always tip, and I think everyone should considering how important a haircut is. My haircut costs $13, and I always round up to $20, sometimes $25 if the girl's boobs touched my head a few times. Tongue

You're one of the few good tippers. And why else do you think we wear low cut shirts Tongue

I'm a part time helper to a maintenance man. I hate it with a burning passion, but it's going to pay for my g.e.d.

I work for Walgreens, as a Photo Team Specialist. I had been working there full time, but when they didn't offer me a shift leader position and a head photo specialist job instead, I declined the offer (barely a pay raise and double the work) and reduced my schedule to work only weekends.

My wife works full time now and I sit at home with the kids, taking care of the house and writing for Examiner.com, where I make enough money to pay my Cable/Electric each month, which is perfect as it gives me a reason to sit at home and play with the kids and watch TV all day.

Then I go in to Walgreens on the weekends, show up everyone there and make a little pocket change. Yes, right now life is good. Only took thirty god damn years to make it happen.

I was recently offered the same position (or told I would be officially offered it in a day or so). Just how insiginificant is the pay raise? Anything less than two bucks and I don't even want to bother with it.

For me it was a 75 cent an hour raise. It could be different depending on your district though.

So, like, never EVER wonder how your day could possibly get worse if you're having a bad one. The universe will hear you and it will answer.

As a refresher, I am a Dietary Aide at a hospital.

Anyway, to zip right to the eventful stuff, I'd gotten through what should have been the most stressful part of the day, taken a lunch break, and was on the dirty end of the dish machine when suddenly I smell something odd.

Whenever someone needs to be taken from our hospital in a helicopter we can usually smell it since the landing pad is close by outside. It's a very distinct fuel-like smell, and at first I thought I was smelling that, but I realized it didn't match up.

The smell was getting stronger and odder, like a burnt electrical smell, so I went to investigate. By the dumbwaiter there is a bulb that turns on whenever it's in use. This bulb was flickering and actually smoking.

Of course this had to happen at a time when most of our staff is either on break or not around, so I'm the only one noticing this. At first it doesn't seem like it's too big of a deal, so I calmly head to the phone to call engineering. This is when the bulb breaks and there's suddenly flames.

First I'm like

But then I see a dude coming back from his break, point out the fire, and we're like

To the fire extinguisher!

We got the fire out and were like

We just saved saved this place! YEEEEAAAAH!

Of course then we call engineering out of fear it would act up again. Since we were heroes and stuff we told the others, even pointing out the scorch marks on the wall, but they were all like

...And that was my day, folks!
