Like, I kind of feel a lot of the threads end up one-sided (where people are really just talking to themselves).

It's hard to pinpoint one or two reasons I feel this way, I guess I just want more from it. But I'm not entirely sure why or what would make it better.

Like, maybe it's just too broad, and the discussions are too open. Maybe there should be specific sub-forums for each console or each genre, rather than just one big, open gaming discussion that encompases every aspect of gaming. I dunno.

What do you guys think?

I think the forum is great when you consider how great the set up of the board is. Sure we need more members, but for now we're just starting out, so it'll take a while to get super busy.

The only thing I worry about is when people can't disagree with each other, or talk about something that might draw a conflict of opinion. For example, the Playstation All Stars: Battle Royale thread, it was meant to talk about the characters in the game, and of course a few of us start talking about how the game is a rip off of Smash Bros. Sure, it's slightly off topic since we aren't talking about characters, but we were still talking about the game itself, so it was somewhat on topic. Twice, without anyone even arguing, we had a cowboy MOD jump our asses for going off topic.

It's restraints like this that can ruin a community. I don't wanna feel like I can't disagree with someone or bring up a topic that might cause an argument. Arguments are going to happen, and yes MODs do need to handle them. But with effective policing, there's no reason why people can't have back and forth debates as long as they aren't personally flaming someone or cussing up a storm. I've been to many great boards that eventually go quiet due to overbearing MODs and communities that feel like they can't talk about anything.

Other then that, yup, we've got a good board.

This I agree with. Why are the mods so strict in some cases, but don't even care in others. And it's as if there's no criteria involved, it's just whoever thinks they should lock something locks it. Maybe we need some new mods, or the mods need to do a better job.

Exactly. Arguments are a natural part of forums. And they're important, they help us learn. In your example, that was on-topic. I don't care what anyone says, if the subject is PSA-BR and that's what you're talking about, it's on topic.

Yeah...

I think the forum could use a larger amount of Narwals, right?
