The anime and game are separate. Thankfully.
I can see issues with it, but at the same time, it's not really ever explored (welcome to Pokémon greater cannon, I guess!)

Here is a Pokemon, 'Did you know' tidbit that my friends and I came across. We've haven't done any research on this but I thought I'd share it anyway because as an western fan of this franchise, I wasn't familiar with these connections.

If you listen closely to this Japanese Folk song titled, 'Sakura Sakura' ...

It sounds remarkably similar to the Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire song of Mt. Pyre when your player is still climbing up to the top. Please take a listen.

Sounds more like the Bellsprout tower IMO http://youtu.be/XhE24NyLHPw
Edit: [attachment=227] It's Lugia using areoblast in crystal, look familiar? [attachment=228]

Its just a negative effect when using that attack (+ some other do so aswell)

I do think, that the anime isnt that far away from the game, as everybody says.
I mean sure, the anime has all the characters, all the bullshyt going on in every god damn episode, team rocket never gives up (and have like a new robot every few episodes but cant affort food), ash literally doesnt give a single f... about catching them all, because he is like *oooh, a legendary pokemon.... look it sparkles*..

But other than that, its the same world, same goal like catching them all and be a master... so yea, the anime just sidetracks all the time but has the same stuff to offer.

But now lets have one or two things ontopic:

Did you know, that the first pokeballs where different to the pokeballs we have now?
Ken Sugimori´s original pokeball concept looked like this:

Yeah, I know. It's just that aeroblast is Lugia's signature move and that of all things make it negative when the Gamecube game Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness has a negative Lugia as its mascot. I'm just saying this could be the inspiration to Shadow Lugia's design.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - Deadalus - 02-09-2013 12:58 PM

Ah okay.

Well yes it can be, but honestly, when you look at some shadow figures (Like Shadow Mario or Shadow Sonic), they are all kind of a negative color sheet.

I mean, you cant pick any color for a creature called "shadow XXXX" Tongue

Just saying Wink

"AIM FOR THE HORN!" Or one of the many other stupid ploys like that would disagree with you, but I agree, that's a discussion for another thread.

This may have been stated before, but Raticate's Pokédex entries mention it's webbed feet helping it swim, but you can clearly see from both the sprite and concept art, that these feet have separate toes.

Yea try dodging the attacks in the games like they do in the show. Remember, when ash showed onyx who´s boss?.. with electric attacks ofc and with his pikatchu.
Oh and ask brock, mysty or any other character, if they wanto to travel around with you. Forever alone.

I cant remember, when they ever said "Aim for the Horn" lol, but maybe because i only watched the german episodes and stopped, when they reached the end of jotho.

Oh any by the way: Does anyone ever questioned, how the trade function work in the series?
Why dont they just trade the balls, but no, they use a machine for that. In the game, it makes sense, maybe they wanted to add a bit from the game into the anime.
Just curious

But imagine some things you do in the game, happens in the anime.

I'm just going to remention this:
General knowledge is that the manga and anime are essentially one, with a few differences. This is important, because I'm about to blow you're fucking mind. In Bulbapedia's Red page, he HAS made an appearance in the anime, even if for a few seconds only. While this may seem minor, it reveals that the manga (or a slightly altered version) is a show within the show, which is an altered game, which means the game itself is most likely a show in the show, as the only alteration is Red's Pokemon. So when we play, we are making cartoons for the characters in the anime to watch.

Very interesting. A lot of Pokemon in later games were supposedly "evolved" or modified from older Pokemon.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - BumblebeeCody - 02-28-2013 11:51 PM

The Kabutops one is pretty cool.
I love how they decided to take it one step further. Instead of just modifying it into a new Pokemon, strap a canon to it as well.

Every professor's name from every region represents a different tree.
Oak, Elm, Birch, Rowan and Juniper.

RE: Pokemon Did You Knows? - TheRealJDawgz - 03-15-2013 11:44 AM

Now here's something interesting:

Hilbert and/or Hilda were set to appear in the Pokemon World Tournament. This can be seen through unused text strings that appear between Volkner and the Driftveil participants. It's interesting because you never get to see them in-game outside multiplayer interaction and they even talk in full lines of dialogue, which is weird because characters remained silent (even Red, who just speaks in ellipses in the PWT)

Dunno if this is a repost but:

"Pokemon Gold and Silver were developed by a small team of only 4 programmers. This is why the game took over 3 years to develop."
