I'm all old and crusty. Frankly I hate it when games make you go to a specific bit of the map to save. I don't mind checkpoints, and I don't mind MENU: SAVE. But having to walk around for a while to find a save point? No.

What d'youse guys think?
I'm way too used to jRPG to have an issue with running around to find a save-point.

Does anyone else always save twice, just to be sure?
Well it does make the game a little rougher depending on how far you are in a certain area.

I mention it because I picked up Dead Rising 2 earlier for very cheap. As fun as it it to smash shit up... I don't like the awkward "go poo" save system. Frankly, I want a pause and save unless it's a checkpoint CoD system. It basically excludes people who have to switch off the console and run off.
I don't really mind if a game requires specific places to save, but if a game uses these, they need some sort of "quicksave" that I can use if I need to leave urgently.

I don't know! What if I made a mistake within the last hour? What if I want to fight that boss again? What if I missed an achievement? It's not worth it!!

Is the DR2 game on a console?
I don't mind having to travel. Dead Rising "toughened" me up into saving as often as I can.

I do that all the time. My inner Paranoid Parrot, forces me to do it.

I like when a games allows me to save where ever I want. The game should also have auto-saves every so often. Just in case you forget to save before exiting the game.
I find myself with any fallout game on the console, I have to save frequently whenever I get paranoid that it will crash. I also have to have 2 saves that I switch back and forth saving to. That way, if one gets corrupt, I got the other one.
I hate not being able to save every two seconds but I've got to say, it makes survival games better

Though it was a nasty shock to see my Skyrim savefile being 6GB because I save every 5 seconds Big Grin
pokemon ranger; final boss there you have it
The thing I always hated about Kingdom Hearts (yes, there is something bad in those games) was the specific places for saving and having to back track a ton or just keep playing to save.
I also don't like how a lot of console versions of games don't have a proper quicksave and quickload function.
When I played Star Wars Kotor II, back in 2005, for some reason, I was obsessed with quick saving. I pressed F5 even when I hadn't made anything important (like walking from A to B, where they aren't too far one from another). Now I regret not saving as often on Dragon Age Origins sometimes.

I usually don't have problems with checkpoints, but I hated it on Far Cry. IT'S AN OPEN WORLD GAME! IT DOESN'T WORK! In Far Cry 2 it was funny. There are those "safehouses" where you could sleep and change weapons. For a long time I thought sleeping was the only way I could save, but you can save simply by pressing Esc and selecting Save Game.
