I'm an uncle, and from what I have ascertained... kids are awesome. It'll be difficult, but you're gonna have a blast, man.
Protip - Don't give yohboi a next-gen console just yet. Start with a NES, then a SNES, then an N64.
Kids gotta learn

I don't recommend getting them into games..then you don't get your computer or tv when you need it... : l speaking from exp aha.

Learn to share... play when they're sleep or get something personal. =P
Am I the only one who thinks it makes more sense to let the kid choose what he wants to play? Some of you act like soccer mom who has already planned out her kids interests.Confused

Make it like this... get a console, call your son to play jsut to "have fun". If he likes it, then he'll keep playing and woobam you got it.

It was all his fault MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

No way, man. My brother has kids. He refers to his wedding and the kids' birth certificates as his 'receipts'.

Heh, if I had a child I would give him the console I would be playing at the time to play, and if they wanted another one they saw on T.V. I'd get it for them, however I would probably let them play games I played in my childhood, so they can have good memories of childhood games, and not Call of Duty 54.

I'd also probably give them a handheld like the GBA and give them an array of GBC and GBA games.

I think it's more about teaching your kid to be able to play interesting games rather than not letting them play CoD. Nothing wrong with playing CoD as long as you show them other interesting games that can appreciate like Pokemon/Catherine/Dantes Inferno etc. As long as you show them what else is there rather than saying "NO COD SUCKS, YOU DON'T GET TO PLAY IT" then there is nothing wrong with that.
Name him Quagsire just to fuck with everyone >=D
Congrats but do make sure it is yours.
The only advice I can give you is to really make sure you can be a positive influence into his/her life. Children are so very vulnerable at the first few years of their life. And always experiment with different hobbies to see what he/she likes. Also start her/him off with an NES/SNES then when they are older move them up to the N64 and NEVER let that kid play CoD until he/she is at an age to take the crap they dish out.
Oh he'll be playing snes. (Its a boy!) but yeah as a few of you said im going make sure its acctually mine before i get all excited about him.
