You are correct, however its the duty of the site admin to prevent that, is it not?
I'd agree to get rid of the rep system as long as this board can show on the user profile who gave thanks to that user, and how many in total.
Eg:
Users that have thanked DidYouKnowGaming
CFMM (3), SparoHawk (2)
I'm guessing evil users can just right out be reported using the report system and not have to give them a negative rep.
