I don't know his name. The boss from Samurai Shodown V. He was just so much overpowered I had to set the game for me to only need to win two rounds, while the computer needed to win five or six. And still I got beaten all the time! I think I never used save state so much (I'm not proud of it, though. I'm not a cheater). When I finally managed to beat him, the big frustration: the ending is nothing but a text rolling on the screen! IN JAPANESE!!
Abomination on The Hulk for Gamecube.
Me and my sat there for hours fighting that bastard. I was shaking, we were so close and when we beat him, he jumped for joy.
Also, General Grevious in Stars Wars Ep.III. I remember telling my Dad: 'Smile when I get out of school,so I know you beat him'. I came out of school and he was frowning, when cheekily grinned and I was so happy.

It's been a good time since I've encoutered any hard boss on game at all... I really don't know what is the hardest boss I've fought so I can't really remember that well...
Although i can say that Nightmare form Metroid Fusion is a tough mofo.
It depends really. All the ones I would put here I can now do easily. Such as Welder from Banjo Tooie. he screwed me over so many times. But I can now beat him without losing any health.
I dont know how many you like Scott Pilgrim but the last boss on the Scott Pilgrim vs The World Game? ... You're screwed you need to buy extra lives just to do it.. (well I did)
Although that now, I can easily defeat him, he was my toughest boss for a loooong time. It took me 2 DAYS to be able to defeat him (Trail and errors >_>)
Now? 2-3 minutes.
Edit: Also, If I remember correctly, I easily beat Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts II... sorry >_>

What is this unknown wizardry you are talking about? I was just a kid when I played the game, so I don't remember ANYTHING about how I beat it... only that it was fast and that the credits were super long.

You basically grinded until a high level got the most powerful weapon in the game and got all the special abilities possible and used them to fight Sephiroth.
Vamp can't die because his nano machines help him recover faster, so that nothing could kill him, you then learn that you have a syringe to suppress nano machines in your body, and can be used as a weapon. Noami even told you during the battle.
He was easy once you knew that, unless you were playing on hard.
To be honest, most MGS bosses aren't hard, just need to know how to beat them, and then trail and error.
The final boss in Bayonetta was hard, I remember failing 3 times when I had her health down to low because the bottom of the arena was start sucking me in which was an instakill, and I had to start ALL over again.
