In the Super Mario Bros 2, Mario's overall were different to that of Super Mario Bros 3, they were changed to be the other way around, instead of having blue under, and red overalls. It was changed to be blue overalls, and red under. It has stayed the same ever since.

x2.... mindblown.
That is if you consider Mario 2 a Mario game... but yeah, I agree. His colors weren't the same until mario 3.
Yeah but the only thing that made it a mario game was the hero design....and thats whats messed up... mind still blown that I never noticed
Yeah, I never noticed either. Nice find!
You don't say?
We also need to consider that Mario never really had a "default" set of overalls in his games until Mario 3, because on the first one the cover shows it with the fireflower and on the game he uses that sort of greenish suit.
How could I have missed that for my hole life?
This got pseudo posted on the main page it seems. Congratz, I guess? XD

Maybe it's because everyone got used to the default look Mario has today that no one could spot the difference. It's just that no one really pays attention to the covers anyways.
