I think that the next Gen Pokemon game should be centered around the past and the future, where you start in a rural area on one side of the region with old, snowy villages, towns, and old temples/ forests and then move on to the other side of the region, filled with big cities, power plants, and flashy attractions.
As for the Pokemon themselves, they should have mythological Pokemon and extinct ones, and what certain animals would look like and thousands of years. The two legendaries should be two birds that protect the past and the future and should be Grass/Flying and Steel/Flying respectively.
Also an idea to throw out there, we should have four horses of the Apocalypse Pokemon.
