The Space Quest games and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy were pretty damn funny, although a bit death-heavy. At least the deaths were funny though.
regarding pedanticism: he did ask if people had games they found to be remarkably amusing at the end of his post. ;)

It goes without saying, of course, that games- like any other media- may be enriched with tasteful humor.

Dota 2 is quite humorous! There's a little bit of everything there- basic jokes, subtle-but-sharp jokes, obscure references and sparing, tasteful usage of internet memes. It all ties believably into each character with good writing and great vocal performance.
Humour in games isnt a bad thing at all. You need a laugh. The games that made me laugh the most are probably Prince of Persia : Sands of time, the dialogue between the Prince and Farah at times is hilarious, All 3 of the Jak games, GTA IV had some big laughs in it for me to oh and of course Saints row 3. These games all did humour right. But when the game is made to be a joke such as Matt Hazzard : Eat Lead it can really destroy the game, while Matt Hazzard WAS actually really funny it just wasnt a fun game..

Another example of it being done horribly wrong is, of course, Duke Nukem Forever. No. Just no. Forced, crappy humour AND terrible gameplay.
@SpecialUnitt: True, but it's just so hard to hate a game that does this. It was an okay game, I think- my first pick for a truly, agonizingly terrible, humor centered game would be Family Guy. Perhaps as much goes without saying, though.

Duke Nukem Forever is detestable in many, many ways.
@dop, Matt Hazzard was hilarious! The only reason I completed it was to find more humour it paid off because I loved the last cutscene and achievements.. Family Guy game was terrible.
I think humour can be done right, if it isn't used a lot, or if it is used a lot, but at random times.

So for example, GTA4 has hilarious radio stations, and people, it has a lot of this, but you don't hear it all at once, or one after the other, so it doesn't get old.

Left 4 Dead is also like GTA4, since it has funny things, but only during events or when the characters just talk to each other.

A game like Portal has a sort of mix that is funny (GLaDOS during the first Portal), that you can understand is funny (Wheatley making jokes), and the bits that aren't funny, but will make the casuals laugh (Cave Johnson's Lemon Speech).

I love humour in games when it takes me by surprise, or it's just something stupid that is funny, but when it's excessively put on, it's not funny.
Conkers Bad Fur Day and A Bard's Tale both got me chuckling quite a bit but I'd say my favorite game with a bit of humour is Elite Beat Agents on the DS
I have high hopes for the new South Park RPG. The writers from the show are working on the Script and Obsidian is developing the game so hopefully it will be funny and fun.
Team Fortress 2 has it's moments. It's not entirely comedic, but definetly a step down in seriousness from other PC shooters.

I'm looking foward to that game way too much. My only issue is that the writer maybe have to hold back due to the company not wanting some things said in their games. But hopefully Obsidian knew what they were getting into and that won't be the case.
The first hour of Brutal Legend is phenomenally funny. I like funny games, but it's hard to keep up a certain level of humour of a 10+ hour game.

I'm all for comedic games, though. Laughing is the best.

Hopefully it won't be an issue. Obsidian did develop Fallout New Vegas which had some South Parkish humor
