Awwwww yiss - I've just started watching SG-1 again from the very beginning and thought it strange that there had only been one mention it so far on this forum.

I love Stargate. It's one of the few series I've watched from start to finish, watched again from start to finish, and now am watching again Smile I just find it so well balanced between action, dialog, humour, seriousness, special effects, satire, guns, diplomacy, science, etc. SG-1 and Atlantis are definitely in my top 10 TV series (Universe... eh not so much).

I've heard the derived games are laughable, but then again I've never tried them.

Anyone else a fan of Stargate ?
Watched the movie when it first came out and had no idea what the heck was going on, the tv show (SG-1 or Atlantis for that matter) also confused me but maybe I should give it another shot. I remember there was a Firefly reference in one SG-1 episode.
I love the series, used to watch it quite a lot back in high school. Favorite episode has to be Window of Opportunity. That's the only episode I know by name.

Seen all the movies too, except the first one from 1994.

I'd recommend you watch it with the years of brainwave you've now gained. It's very well paced

Ahhh yes, Window of Opportunity - one of the best episodes, especially when they start playing golf Tongue
Duhh.... Stargate is a Star Trek rip-off! They uhh... both have STAR in the title!

But in all seriousness, Stargate is pretty good.
Remember watching it with my dad when I was really young. I never really understood it but I liked any kind of sci-fi at the time. There was a Stargate film on TV the other day, but it was laughably awful. That is just my opinion though, I don't want to upset anyone.
It was decent. Not too bad.

I was only seven though.

Yeah, the film was pretty laughable - but I enjoyed about it. It's the same reason for which I watch the Resident Evil (live-action) films, they're hilariously cheesy and crack full of clichés.

Are you guys talking about the first movie? Or just all of them in general?

I'm talking about them in general. The films were terrible and filled with clichés and ridiculous fighting scenes (for example, chock-full of the ol' "shoot just behind them when they run" affair) but I liked them and have watched them a few times Cool
My favorite of that bunch would definitely be Continuum. I liked it way better than Ark of Truth.

Oh wut, you're talking about the Stargate films ?? I was talking about the RE films Big Grin

Nonetheless - The Stargate films are very good. I wish they'd tie up Atlantis with one or two film-length productions

Oh lol. I actually just watched Retribution. It was okay, though Anderson still doesn't seem to know how to tie in his movies with each other. So much left unexplained that it hurts my brain. Afterlife though... I'd rather have my arms cut off than watch it again.

The story is simple enough

Simple story, yet Anderson still manages to screw up and not explain half of the stuff Tongue

But yeah, that's basically what happens.
