This one is not a really secret, but its pretty cool.
In Lufia, Rise of the Sinestrals, you had to defeat a few main bosses. One of them, called Gadest, appears multiple times. When you first meet him, he is too strong and defeats you in a battle. After that, the story goes on. Even the programmers said, there is no chance to beat him.
Anyway, if youre trained well (takes a long, boring time) and have enough items to cure your party, you can beat him in a long battle. After that you get his weapon and a lot of money and experience. The bad thing is, he will kill you after all in a cutscene, following the battle. The story goes on as normal, but you gained a lot of things.
