So - Disney has bought Star Wars, and will be releasing news films aplenty. What say you, forumgoers ?

Personally, I'm glad they're making new Star Wars. I enjoyed the films and will most likely enjoy the others.
My Facebook feed is besieged with 60bttHz/s of fanmahbois going "oh nyenyenye it's ruining the franchise", "brebrebrehhh[sic], leave Star Wars alone".
Here's an idea -

I say "yay more Starwars"

EDIT - Saw this on Reddit
I...Really do not know HOW to express my reaction when I initially saw this. I am HAPPY that lucasfilms will be making more movies but I am worried that they will not have that feeling the original 3 had. I know Disney has done some non cartoon movies before but they were all for kids or had kids in mind to see this so I do not know how Disney is going to go about making these films. Can anyone show me a Disney film that was not a cartoon and was also not geared for kids?
What we need to remember is that the film will be produced by Lucasfilm, and merely distributed by Disney.

Disney's distributed, to name a few - Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, The Avengers 2, Ironman 3.

I don't think there should be much to fear from Disney-ification of the films.
Personally, I think the movie franchise should stay how it is. It doesn't really need more movies. It already tells a complete story, so what could Episode 7 even be about?
But, I don't care about Disney being the one to buy the company. Disney owns a shit-ton of other companies but leaves them alone to do what they want, which is nice. They don't try to force their bought companies to conform to how Disney acts. After all, Marvel is still going as strong as ever, and from what I've heard, none of the writers/artists have been fired or otherwise treated differently by their new higher-ups.
I admit, I was like this about 2 years ago when Disney bought Marvel comics. Though I didn't storm the Arsebook or anything. I just thought there would be big changes to franchises I didn't want. But, nope, it's all been good. So it means no Marvel vs Capcom vs The Reccess Kids 4. If Disney aren't going to mess around with Lucasfilms then meh. George Lucas has already milked that franchise to the point of cow giving out white dust :/
They didn't just buy star wars. They bought LucasFilm and LucasArts. but it is mainly just start wars. Did George Lucas do anything else besides Star Wars?

I think he did Indiana Jones.

I'm ok that Disney bought LucasFilm.Hell, nothing happen when Disney bought Marvel, even making the films great(i know they distribute it.)

Also,i saw the news video and when you look closely,I think George Lucas was gonna cry at that moment...
People are just over-reacting. I have a few friends who were literally yelling at me for saying I would love more movies.
Maybe I need new friends.

Random colors will always beat actual answers.

The only reason Disney did this was so they could add a Star Wars ride to Disney World.

But seriously, I don't think this is a bad thing. The Star Wars series has a huge demographic of fans: from the people who saw the originals all the way to the little kids who only watch the Clone Wars stuff. If anyone would know how to appeal to all those people, it would be Disney.

Like I said before though, with Marvel comics (and Pixar) Disney haven't ever interfered and I've yet to see any changes made by them. Which also means Disney won't be thinking about "how to appeal to the younger audience".

That doesn't explain if princess leia is a disney princess :3
I never liked Star Wars, but I don't get why people aren't happy about this?

You're getting another film, isn't this good?
A lot of people who liked star wars hate the new trilogy (1-3) so they're more likely not looking forward to this because of that.
