Well damn, the internet's gone and done it again - Someone's released a two-player version of Super Mario 64.
It's exactly the same SM64, but now you're two people playing. Bumblebeecody and I were playing it a short while ago and damn, it's good !

How does it work, exactly?
It's a rom that you open with Project 64. Then you go on something called netplay and find someone else to play with. Then bam, you have your game.
Great fun
Meh. As interesting as it sounds, SM64 should stay single player, at least in my opinion.
Sounds like a lot of fun, actually. But I'm going to pass on this. Sorry, dude.

Let me know if you change your mind Wink

Will do.

So if one persona has one N64 and another has another N64, do they NEED to play on the same TV? I know people can probably download a ROM for this but I am just curious how that works out. Also I would think that the bosses would get bugged out trying to figure out which Mario to target and what not.

At the moment, the AI only reacts to Player 1. Damage, however, is dealt to both players combined. So if the health goes down to zero, both players lose.

As for bosses - The first Bomb-Omb level is laughably easy : King Bomb-omb chases the first player, leaving the second player free to pick him up. It's only the first release so perhaps future updates will have AI recognition for both players.
Saw this in another forum I go to, looking forward to updates since I play with my friend a lot on netplay on SNES. Still trying to work out kinks in the N64 net play D:
Seems interesting, although I typically enjoy my one players. I would at least give it a shot if I was able.
Oh man when you're running up the wooden plank and I'm stuck underneath not being able to see. Such a laugh.

.....then it proceeds to freeze.

SM64 Multiplayer, where your worst enemy is the camera angle

I introduced a friend who had never played SM64 to the game today. It took us 40 minutes to get to King Bomb-omb Tongue
I think it looks great. I probably won't play more than a few minutes or more than one play session, but it sounds like great fun.
I think this would work better on due screens because the camera is sort of close to Mario in certain areas and having TWO Marios would just be over kill.
