I like them both the old ones are classic but the new ones have more of a rpg style story to it.

Why can't it? In a game where the offline mode centers on a player that collects the monsters he likes more, I can say for sure that the monsters designs are one of the most important factors in the game (offline, again).

I, for one, had lost interest on the franchise when they launched the DS generation. And when I saw people screaming "zOMG there's a icecreamz pokemans and a garbage and a candle" I had the same feeling. I know most pokemon are based on something real, but those did seem a bit uncreative.
However, after getting to know the gen a bit better, there are actually a lot of decently drawn pokemon; amongst them, my second favorite: Volcarona [Image: 637.png]

Still, I haven't played the games as I don't own a DS and my laptop can't properly handle a DS emulation that heavily relies on '3D'. But from what people tell me, it actually brings back the feelings you had when you played the first games and it supposedly has a more engaging story and gameplay.
I saw something... a message from the future... it foresaw a big flame war near this area...
I like it because Pokémon has always been Pokémon, since the first game it's always been a fun RPG about catching Pokémon, training them, and beating the 8 gyms, elite 4 and champion "to be the best that no one ever was".

That formula hasn't changed, I see no reason to hate Pokémon due to their designs.
I hate the new gen because they've clearly run out of ideas for what a Pokemon can be.

I enjoyed the series up to (and not including) Black and White but it's just silly now

The metagame is still pretty solid and the gameplay is gets better with each addition, but 3 on 3 battles with stupid looking Pokemon is just taking it too far. This isn't Marvel vs Capcom.

I lost interest after Gold/Silver/Crystal (with the exception of HeartGold/SoulSilver since they were nearly perfect remakes).

I think it's mostly because I was a kid when Red/Blue was released unlike the newer generations who grew up on the more recent games. You get used to what you first experienced which drastically effects your opinion.

My Red was such a wonderful experience. This was before the internet was a big thing so I didn't have a computer around to cheat and see all the Pokemon. I actually was over the top excited when I encountered each new one and wanted to see what it would evolve into. When a friend told me about Missingo I remember being terrified when I tried it since the screen went black for so long before that monster appeared. Also, hearing there was a trick to actually obtain Mew blew me away. Heck, it's still the game I read the most about due to the bizarre glitches in it. Oh, and remember the Pokegod rumors? Those were fun.

I didn't sleep the night when Gold/Silver launched. This was before Nintendo starting milking the franchise so getting a new game with new Pokemon was so major to me. All the new features were so much fun and I loved that there were new Eevees!

...And then the next game came out and the next. I cared less and less as more changes I didn't like happened (I'll always be a Team Rocket fan girl). Natures, contests, junk like that. I also started not to like the new Pokemon either. The fact that more legionaries and event Pokemon got added made them stop being special. Plus, it no longer became feasible to catch them all. I actually did on my old Red game, only cheating once using the glitch to catch Mew. Otherwise I traded for the rest.

I'm actually done with Pokemon unless they release a new Pokemon Snap. I absolutely hated Black/White and it felt like a burden to complete it. N was a total pussy. I want a rival that's an asshole again.
Am I one of the only ones that likes the new Gen and the designs?

I felt the designs, although a bit less original than some of the others were actually pretty good. I feel like people hate on the new designs because they get used to and connect to the original Pokemon and hate on them because they changed.

I feel like if they released the 5th Gen Pokemon as the 1st Gen ones and 1st as 5th, the fans would absolutely shit on the 1st Gen Pokemon. They'd be like "WTF is Muk? Why is Magneton three Magnemites? What is Jynx supposed to be?"

Basically, I like the new Gen, but I like the others too.
I came to the realisation of the fact that if the 1st gen was the 5th one and vice-versa, everybody would hate it, because the 1st gen was mainly based on animals.

What, don't believe me? A lot of people has been saying that the 5th gen is based off animals and inanimate objects. But if you look at the 1st one, there is even MORE pokemon based off animals!
Meh, the games aren't that good.... they just got rid of so many features. Angry
But the pokemon are cool!Smile

Its always annoying when people dis the new pokemon for being unoriginal, they need to look back at gen 1.Sleepy

These two are actually good you know, I agree Black and White are a mixed bag, but these are original and look cool.

Also I can cherry pick bad Pokémon from all the other Gens if you want?
The inanimate object pokemon are more ridiculous and retarded looking than previous generations, but there were just as much in previous generations. You just have to look harder seeing as they're much less retarded looking. That's not my reason though, just thought I'd put my 2 cents in for that argument.

I hate the new gens because you don't even play them, they play you. They take you from place to place in a linear fashion explaining absolutely everything to you eliminating the excitement of adventure and discovery from older gens, in addition to adding pretty much nothing to what made the game great. Instead they focus on adding retarded shit like fashion contests and Pokemon contests (the latter example wasn't so bad, but it didn't make the game itself better) and have succeeded in making the other facets of the game much more dull and simply unchallenging. Also, there seems to be a much more black-and-white distinction between good and bad Pokes in newer gens. I had to scrap 2 or 3 out of 5 of my pokemon after the Pokemon League in Black because they were utter shit compared to my others and couldn't compete with the high level Pokes you encounter beyond those 2 bridges you gain access to after completing the League. This is opposed to earlier gens where you could find the potential in almost any pokemon from start to end; Raticate, Tentacruel, Golbat, Onix, who cares. Instead I found my favorite 5th Gen Poke, Ben the Turtle (Carracosta) to be horrifyingly slow and weak in all regards once he hit about 60. Then there's the characters who lack any depth at all and the story line which is beyond stupid.

Basically I hate the new gens for the same reason I hate Diablo 3. Dumbed-down, linear, with a story line that makes you cringe at evident stupidity regularly.

Oh yeah, and they always add pointless designs and graphics to the newer Pokemon. Take Emboar for example. Is he wearing clothes or something? I just don't get it.
1: ice creams and bags of shit are badasss
2: you can use unlimited tms
3: wifi batteling

your argurment is invalid

2. Anyone that actually plays competitive battles.
3. But they don't allow you to challenge someone more than 2 meters away from you.

This is because the early gens had a rather small number of mons so they were somewhat balanced in power.
However, with the 600+ we have now, it's pretty easy to find a mon that completely overruns another in every single aspect.
And btw, Carracosta is a bulky water. It's not supposed to have decent speed.
I'd like to point out that all the new legendary pokemon look absolutely retarded as well.
