What do you believe is the best and worst controllers in gaming. KB&M don't count since we're just talking consoles here (and neither does the Dreamcast KB&M or any other variant)

I think the best controller is the Xbox 360 one, apart from the D-Pad and Sticks, it's perfect, everything is in the right place, it feels good and doesn't hurt your hands after long play sessions, same with the Gamecube's, both of those are great.

Dreamcast is good too, but it's a bit wide, and fat, but great none the less.

However, the worst controller will have to go to the Playstation's, due to the fact it's too wide and small, the triggers do not feel right, but apart from that it's good, the D-pad and sticks are perfect.

So what about you guys?
I really liked the GameCube's the most. The CCP for the Wii is a close second.
And I like the feel of PlayStation controllers, I guess it's just because I grew up with it. The R2 and L2 triggers can be weird sometimes, though.
I like 360's controller. It just seems confortable for the hand, and the controls are just fine. I never had any problems with it, besides that the battery changing is... well... pretty annoying. Of course, if you buy top-quality batteries it's most likely lasting long, but when the battery is dead... I don't even want to imagine it! X_X
I like the PS2 controller too, but it felt a little bit light for a large hand like mine.
But I have to say that I prefer handheld consoles' controls more. I'm satisfied with the 3DS and gameboy I have. I didn't like the PSP's controls that much though. The similarity to the PS2 and PS3 controller was too... smashing, to begin with. And I don't like Dualshock too much, maybe that's why I don't like PSP either at all.

I'm basically the exact opposite, for the same reasons.

I think the Wii + Nunchuck is the worst controller. It's uncomfortable, it hurts your hands after only a couple hours of play. It is unnecessarily two separate components (which are connected by a cord that should be much longer or wireless). It's just not designed for the type of gameplay that most games have.

The second worst, I will say, is the XBox 360 controller. It's bulky (which makes it less than comfortable and awkward to hold). It also feels wide (like you're hands are not where they should be). The analog sticks are awkwardly positioned (not ergonomic at all), and don't even get me started on the shoulder buttons. Aside from the bumpers being ridiculously cheap and sticky feeling, the trigger buttons just don't feel right in the hand (They feel loose, and too sensitive). the D-Pad is just a nightmare to use. It's in probably the worse place it could be. It doesn't make sense to the outward direction of the controller body (which makes it very awkward to hold). Now, I'm sure I wouldn't have a problem playing games with the XBox controller, it's easy enough to get used to and comfortable enough to justify using, but I definitely wouldn't call it one of the best controllers.
I also personally don't like the feel of the Xbox's X, Y, A, and B buttons.

Now, onto controls I like/think are the best.

I really like the SNES controller. It's small, but the curves make it comfortable in the hand. The buttons are all placed in natural positions that don't take extra effort to get to (you could argue about the start and select buttons, but I don't think that's really an issue). Overall, I just really like it.

Next, I would say, the Playstation 3 controller. It's totally ergonomic. Everything feels like it's where it should be, and like the SNES controller, the buttons (and analog sticks) take no extra effort to get to. The D-pad lines up perfectly with your left thumb, and same goes for the Square, Triangle, X, and Circle buttons for your right thumb. The analog sticks are positioned for easy access, which makes using them smooth, and makes gameplay seem seemless. The shoulder buttons are designed how I feel they should be (R1 and L1 are in the front, and are used for main purposes, such as aiming and shooting or performing commands. The L2 and R2 buttons are placed behind, and are generally used for secondary commands, such as throwing a grenade, rleoading or switching weapon. They're springy, which makes them great for quick taps, and performing quick actions. I would also say that, since all PS3 controllers are wireless, and are rechargable, you don't have to worry about replacing batteries or having a corded connection.

I also like the Gamcube controller, although I hat the shoulder buttons for it.
If you find the 360 controller bulky, I assume you must have small hands, also I would spend a long time disproving a lot of what you said, but I don't want to start an argument, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Also A, B, X and Y are universal (Nintendo, Sega, Keyboard.), only Sony wants to be the Hipster here with their retarded button scheme.
The 360 is the best controller. The only thing that sucks about it is the D-Pad. Thought they did fix that later on, it's still terrible.

The worst has to be N64's.

I'm basing my opinion on experience.
I never had an issue with any controller from a console that I owned. The SNES was comfortable and while limited in buttons, the controller was still awesome and very responsive. The N64 might be the least best of them all but that is because it was Nintendo's first time tackling the 3D game market so the controls may not be air tight, they were still rather responsive and the D-pad was never used...EVER at least for me.
I grew up on the Playstation controllers so for me, they are the best because of 3 generations of me playing games with the same controller lay out.
Neverh ad an issue with the gamecube/dreamcast/original xbox controller and I guess the Wii was...different.
I also agree, in terms of design, the N64 controller was very bad. But it did do its job, and was, for the most part, very responsive.

Compare the XBox controller to any other controller and tell me it's not bulky.
Disproving what? It's all opinionated...How do you disprove an opinion? And no, I don't have small hands. I have somewhat short fingers, but my hands aren't small.

Quote:Also A, B, X and Y are universal (Nintendo, Sega, Keyboard.), only Sony wants to be the Hipster here with their retarded button scheme.
It's not about the letters (I made this clear). It's about the feel of the buttons. And Sony's had that button scheme since the PSOne (they're not being hipsters, they're being consistent). If you're gonna call out anyone, call out Microsoft for copying Nintendo's A/B/X/Y buttons.
The N64 was a good controller. Just a very bad design. It's like it's designed for people with 3 hands.

Also, the Mario Party games ruined the control sticks. Those games were a blast.
Gamecube was the only controller I ever felt was perfect for adult male hands, The controller was curved all over perfectly even in the L&R buttons. Loose and tight grips both work perfectly.

Worst controllers (aside from obvious wii, move, kinect) I find are playstation(I feel like I have to "cradle" the controller, too small, not defined for hands.. Definitely isn't a natural fit) and the N64 (I do not have 3 hands for the 3 prongs.)
I get the feeling that people who think the Playstation controller is small are people who play XBox and are used to having something bulky and big in their hands. Because the Playstation controller isn't that small. It's designed in a way that fits comfortably in the hands and doesn't overload it with extra space just for the sake of extra space. But it's certainly not small.
In reality, the PS controller is only slightly smaller than the Xbox controller.
I really like the 64 controllers. They're my favorite. They are comfortable to me.
I never really had a huge issue with game controllers. I'm with most of the people here though, the Xbox 360 controller is definitely the best. The D-pad, sure, it's complete crap but the later versions fixed that and it feels pretty nice. I love the snug feel of the Xbox 360 and GameCube controller. Only problem with the GameCube controller are the L and R buttons which are awkward to press. The PlayStation controllers have always felt pretty cheap to me.

I play and like ps3 more then xbox 360. I never liked the original x-box. I still feel Sony controllers are small, too light, and feel cheap. I feel like I am forced to cradle it, not grip it. And I think it's controllers alone is why fighting games aren't as popular on it. It's harder to rapidly tap a button on a controller that small, I find it's harder to aim quick in shooters on the joysticks of a controller that small. And It's generally my least favorite controller of this generation.

"for the sake of extra space" is what makes controllers fit good. Thats what we full hand fit controller fans are talking about.
I'm not really a fan of the N64 controllers. Mainly the analog stick, it sticks out way too much and just just feels weird. The buttons are responsive and all, but the placing of the d-pad is just stupid.
