Ive been playing Resident Evil 4 lately, really liking it. Whats the best things about this series?
I've played Resident Evil before, but didn't get far before getting distracted with other games. I'm playing RE4 and so far my only real gripe is the controls, I know it's supposed to be that way, but HOLY SHIT I HATE THAT!
Played Resident Evil 4 and it easily became one of my favorite shooters, and probably one of my favorite games in general. It's easy to see how shooters like Dead Space took a lot of cue's from it.

Anyway, 4 and 1 are the only ones I've played, and I couldn't deal with 1's controls. But I'm interested in playing 5 and 6. And maybe checking out 2, just because everyone says it's one of the best games ever n' such.
Resident Evil 5 was so bad that it put the nail in the coffin for me. I used to love the RE series, but thanks for RE5 I don't feel even a little bit of hype for RE6.
I grew up on the originals, my friend and I were working on collecting every Resident Evil title we could get. My favorite game was Resident Evil 2, nice story and it was just a blast. The worst game I owned was Resident Evil Gaiden for the Gameboy Color and that game really sucked.
I knew I would hate Resident Evil 5 so I have not touched it nor bought it (but that will change when I get the Resident Evil 6 Anthology edition that has 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 (maybe 0 too))
For RE is my favourite Capcom series (more than Street Fighter). I'm extremely into the lore of RE. I personally loved RE5. No it wasn't scary, but it was still survival and the additions they made from RE4 I pretty much fully agree with. RE5 still has some of the best graphics I've seen of this generation. RE4 is my favourite in the series however and to this day I still play it multiple times a year trying to beat speedrun times and get high placings on the Xbox Leaderboards. RE4 is one of the pinnacle moments of the entire gaming industry. I also own RE4 on every platform it's been on (aside from that crappy iPhone and ...zeebo?)

I've played all the RE games many times over on every console and version but RE4 is the finest they've made.
I couldn't be bothered with Dragons Dogma but managed to torrent the RE6 demo and I've played it to death. Already have my pre-order for the special edition of RE6 (Our version in Europe is AWESOME). One of my local managers at Gamestation is buying the ridiculous £700+ version that comes with Leons jacket. I love RE but eff that...
GET HYPE!
Complete....global.....saturation!
Can you tell I love the series?
This halloween my friend and I are going to go into my basement, plug in RE4 and turn all the lights off around midnight. Last one to scream and/or wet themselves gets $5.

Probably around chapter 5-1. Really only shitbrix enemies there. Or Verdugo if you count that in 3-2

Whatever chapter has those goddamn Regenerators.

If I could I would have my own Resident Evil Marathon playing 1,2,3,0,Re,Code Veronica,4,5(just because) and 6

Hopefully I will have enough to buy Resident Evil 6 Anthology edition so I CAN play most of those titles but some will need the Gamecube (0 and Re)
I didn't mind 5 actually. Though I had to set the brightness display on really high so it didn't hurt my eyes. Colors were completely washed out, but I could still play it... heh heh.

As for 4, I too have just started playing it. I can understand how people thought it was either what made or broke the series as a whole. I'm not a huge fan of the control scheme and the whole "laser sight aiming" thing that they do, but I appreciate that it does focus on action. I prefer the survival over the horror, I just never got into "scary" games. I kind of suck at shooters though so the punishment for wasting bullets does not get lost on me. :/ I'm only on Chapter 2-2 and I can't believe I still haven't found any shotgun shells. SRSLY!!

It didn't break the series but put it in a new direction. The only reason the older games where scary was the way the camera angle was but it was more of a purposeful drawback.
"You can't see what's ahead because of the camera angle" isn't really fair but it's why it's scary. (Unless you've played the game a lot and know the location of each enemy and pattern). RE4 (at the time) was revolutionary for shooters though slightly dated by todays mechanics, but it still holds up pretty well. RE5 has some of the best graphics I've seen this generation with a stronger emphasis on the Umbrella story with great new characters like Sheva and Excella Gionne. It wasn't scary like RE4 though. Also I prefer the inventory system of RE5 than RE4.

Too many 'tards moan about how it lost it's touch with RE4 and usually those people haven't even played it.

Also, the unboxing of the Collectors Edition of RE6:

As stated before I love the RE series. More than any other Capcom franchise including Street Fighter. But, damn £120 for that!? Cancelling my pre-order for it tomorrow. Stupidly over priced(but that's Capcom).

Lastly, set a new personal best for Speedrunning RE4. (1:56, going for 1:52).
I will gladly pay for the Anthology because of how many games I will get.
Loved RE4, hate the rest of them. Stupid tank controls.
The controls were a bitch but that was sort of the point, the controls were a tad wonky at times and the fixed camera gave the game a more creepy feel.
