I find it funny that Nintendo are trying to get the hardcore fans with the Wii U, and Sony and Microsoft are trying to get the mainstream and casuals with their Kinect and Move.

Still people can't see through this.

The grass is always greener on the other side, even in the game development world

It's because Nintendo grabbed the casual gamer and your grandad but the balls and made a shi- ton of money. Nintendo had their Marios and Zeldas to keep up on the bandwagon, but now they have your dull girlfriend, grandmother and next door neighbours cat having a go at Wii bowling. Sony and Microsoft wanted in on that and thus can the Move and that terrible thing Micro$oft call Kinect....or "Skittles-the-Tiger-taking-up-Rarewares-precious-company-from-making-a-decent-Banjo-threeie-game".

The funny thing is, even if Nintendo failed at trying to appeal to the "Hardcore/CoD Fanbase", they'd still make millions and we'd all buy it. But who cares about Kinect? Really...

I have another one.
HD
I've seen this before about certain games not being HD. I know I shouldn't be reading YouTube comments but, they're pretty funny. I've seem gamers complain about how [Insert HD collection name here] isn't HD because it still uses the same graphics. Or, Rayman HD/RE4 still look like last gen. No shi-. They have 0 idea what High Definition actually means. There was a team working on Sonic 2 for PC, an unofficial port running in 1080p and you read the comments like "WTF THIS ISN'T HD". There's a difference between HD and a game re-texture. Damn
Kinect is actually really good for non-gaming related things. I don't know if anyone actually bought it for the games. (I don't own a kinect, but look up "kinect hack" on Youtube)
Mine would be that Video games are super easy and they teach you nothing...
I learn a good part of Math tiring to figure out the lvling system in Oblivion!
I hate the following misconceptions

-Just because a game is popular means it's for "casuals"
-Indie games are automatically great because they're indie
-Any attempt to reach a wider audience is "Dumbing it down" and should be shunned
-People who play games on PC (that aren't Farmville) are elitists
-Boycotting EA and Activision will somehow hurt the main companies themselves and not the developers under them
-It's OK to botch the gameplay in a game to prove a point

These, these, these, and these so many times.

This, this, this, and THIS.

Oh thought of a new ones.
People who think the Xbox 360 is a 1080p console.
People who can bash CoD but not Zelda
Being good at Fighting Games online means you're good offline or in tournaments

This times a hundred.
The pokemon one or if it counts ALL THE WHINING PEOPLE AT COD or if not just the pokemon one
I hate these ones "OLD GAMES SUCK JUST BECAUSE OF THE GRAPHICS!" and "THERES SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU IF YOU PLAY OLD GAMES ONLY!!!"
Some people like pixel art better. Also what if I like old games BETTER than new ones? It's my opinion.
The pokemon one is also stupid, the games are for EVERYONE!
I hate it when people say the graphics on old game are "gay". I say as long as you know what your person is and that you know that that text says "attack" then just play it. It's still good
After reading through this thread it seems I'm definitely guilty of a few of these 'misconceptions.'

Like all CoD games being the exact same game. Let me first say that I absolutely loved the campaigns. I thought they were amazing. The story development and relationships you build with your squad mates - awesome.

The whole bit about hating the CoD community - I think what that is all about is the copious amount of players who haven't yet reached high school. Which is fine, they are allowed to play games too - but let's be serious, it is very ANNOYING in many ways. Not taking the game seriously, trolling/camping/glitching, ridiculously bad mouths, etc. Okay fine, it's not that different from every other online community Big Grin I just mute everybody unless I'm playing with friends. I've learned that there is nothing good you need to hear anybody talk about on CoD

So, I'm not bashing the series - I love(d) the games and I've played through each one, online and offline. BUT, for the most part, I do find the games almost exactly identical..

Of course there are small changes here and there.. but for the most part they're the same. Not unlike many game series

Come to think of it - I think I just dislike the game series for many other reasons. (In no game should you be able to survive three headshots, but get killed by a throwing knife to the foot)

Quote:Playing games for the graphics is like watching porn for the story
I hate the distinction between "casual" and "hardcore" gamers. Games is games just as eggs is eggs. Taking the piss out of gamers because of how serious they are is absolutely retarded.
I'd also like to add.

People who believe that Battlefield 3 is better than CoD, and believe that they are higher up because they play Battlefield and all that shit.

Seriously, Battlefield is just a shiny CoD with destruction physics and vehicles, people who believe it's better are hipsters who want to hate the CoD scene by buying Battlefield.

Even though I'm not a fan of CoD, it has much more variety in maps, gametypes, and weapons/attachments.
